Greetings,
I have not been a prominent member of this community despite being part of the Beta for a very long time. The following suggestion comes from many years of experience as a competitive gamerGǪ and nearly a year as a game design student @ Full Sail University.
----------------------
For those of you who enjoy a short & sweet message / suggestion here it isGǪ
DUST 514 requires more COMPETITIVE options for players with a competitive mindset.
For those of you who can read more than a paragraph without getting bored here is my reasoningGǪ
DUST 514 is a GREAT game. I say that mostly as a gamer because as a game design student I know it has some big performance issues at the moment that can ruin the fun to be had. The problem is that despite the game being GREAT the game can get redundant quickly if you are playing with a proper squad / corporation and just face rolling 95% of the matches you join. I of course am referring to the problem known asGǪ
PUB Stomping GÇô GÇ£The act of playing with a group of people with proper communication & tactics against people that that are not fortunate enough to have the same level of communication & tactics.GÇ¥
PUB Stomping is an issue in most any FPS title. It isnGÇÖt fun for those getting stomped nor is it fun for those doing the stomping (In most cases). The results of PUB Stomping are as followsGǪ
#1. Casual players leave the game out of frustration #2. Competitive players get bored... frustrated from that boredom & possibly leave due to lack of a challenge.
You and I both know the solution to people always losing is to start playing with friends (squads)GǪ however many people do not do this either because they donGÇÖt want to or because they are new and donGÇÖt understand the game.
PUB Stomping will never be eliminatedGǪ BUT it can be partially controlled.
How?
Introduce a new match making system. One that places full squads against each other so that there are no random players involved. Every squad would in most cases contain people with proper communication. The end result would be a challenging match for both sides; each knowing the enemy is as organized as they are. This is turn creates a more satisfying experience for every single one of the players involved.
In creating a system of this nature CCP would be giving competitive players a place to play and feel challenged while also elevating some of the frustrations of more casually minded players in regular match making. Increase the rewards given to players (EXP / ISK) giving players a reason to want to partake in this match making system.
Corporation BattlesGǪ
What it sounds like in your head is exactly what it is. Make a match making system dedicated to Corp VS Corp battles. THIS IS DIFFERENT THAN PLANETRY CONQUEST.
PC is greatGǪ however it does not happen often nor does it allow many people at once to participate. Having a built in system allowing Corporations to face off would be a HUGE addition to the game. Imagine three bracketsGǪ
6v6 / 12v12 / 16v16
Each one individually RANKED. Yeah I said it. Ranking system for the Corporations doing the battles. Who would become the top dog? Only one way to find out CCP ;)
I would suggest however making it necessary for the Corp CEO to approve people for this type of match making. I donGÇÖt know how you would do that CCP I leave that up to you. DonGÇÖt need every Corp member with the ability to participate possibly ruining the Corps rank in the system.
------------------
Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestion(s). For those interested in more of my ideas just get in touch with me. One of my goals upon getting into the game industry is to get involved with the E-Sport side of things. IGÇÖve always loved competitive gaming.
Best regards,

JustEnjoy This Shlt wrote:You get spawned right in front of enemies in tdm, I like Skirmish better even though my team always loses and I have to hack turrets myself, which is a pain because I'm a sniper. The mercenary server browser only has one or two servers It let's ke join and when I click on join, it never actually pits me in the game once it starts. Also, anyone looking for a Sniper to join their whatever clan are called in this game? I'm pretty descent, I don't wanna sound like an arrogant ***, but only one with good player in because I hate losing. Ps: don't care if it's just one or two players in it, that's all you need in publics to win anyway. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, I thought this was an important topic worthy of being seen by the council. My mistake. I'll repost it there as well. |

New players have a grace period of 10k WP or 2mil sp, whicheve comes first before they're thrown to the wolves.
Corp. battles was here before PC replaced it. Corps were not happy and CCP seems willing to put it back in but wants to add morefeatures/options to it first.
Typing from Vita and thums are going numb; sorry for typos.
PS Don't worry about posting here; nobody really knows wtf this subforum is supposed to be for. |

Foxfour and Nullarbor are pretty awesome, we talk to them on a pretty much daily basis, and one of the things we've been throwing around recently is ways to bring back corp battles in a meaningful way to the competitive crowd without the long waits that go with PC, for frequent, competitive action.

Post it here, post it there, post this everywhere, its a good idea most people are with you I'd imagine, I've tried to tell them how this game is such a turn off to new players, but I don't know that they get it. As for this being the wrong place to post I help pay for it I give you permission. |

This is actually something they came to us about in the last meeting. They realize player retention is a problem, especially amongst new players. The new player experience is something they are actively discussing and working on, so now is the perfect time to get threads about it churning out |

Something the cpm may think about mentioning is as this game progresses a larger group of people will have ever more lifetime skill points then those who have just started, it may become helpful at some point to increase either a beginners weekly cap, total starting skill points, or an Aur item for people at a certain skill level that's helps with boosting, you know something special to help these guys get to 5 mil somewhat faster. In that way they would feel like there was something for them. |

In that way they would feel like there was something for them. Implants that boost skills not just skill point gain?? The need for an isk variant skill implant that increases a player's skill to be able to fit X module and the requirement to restock it on a suit by suit basis. Rather than an Isk version of this, CCP could sell a Logi Pack, an Assault Pack a Heavy Pack, an HAV Pack, a Dropship Pack, an Assault Rifle Pack, an HMG Pack, a Forge Gun Pack, a Mass Driver Pack and so on which included things in those classes that are equivalent to Basic level or better gear for users struggling to earn SP. "Covenant" Sniper Rifle comes to mind, so they already do this. Here's a solution to get to 5 mil SP really quickly, Start a fresh character and don't invest any SP. Then equip that character with 5 months worth of PASSIVE Boosters. Play the character or just let it sit on the server collecting passive SP. I currently have at least one character with no SP invested and passively gaining SP that is at around 4.5 mil SP after about 3-4 months that has never had a booster installed. It is really not all that long to get to 5 mil SP passively. |
