First, Dust has a ton of potential and I'm not knocking the game or CCP for that matter. I'm just offer, what in my opinion, has changed about CCP, at least from a Dust perspective.
What is EvE started at the very moment of release, when players started using cans to get around the system. It allowed CCP to make a decision, if players can find a way around the system, then fine, so long as it isn't game breaking. Dust has none of that, every step is measured and it's measured for the sake of EvE, not for Dust. I understand the vastness of what CCP is trying to do, but like EvE, let the players decide the course of the game.
Until recently, CCP had always been a reactionary company. Meaning they reacted to what players were doing, now they are trying to take control of the bus and drive players around. IMO CCP needs to get back to its roots. I'm not saying leave everything alone, balancing and things like that certainly need to handled based off of metrics that CCP is privy to, but markets, outside the box thinking and gameplay, these should be left to the players, just as it was in the beginning of EvE.
EvE doesn't have a steadily increasing player base because it's the same game as other MMOs. It's because it's player driven. EvE is proof that when you open the floodgates and let players be players that anything is possible, the sky's the limit. Sadly though, with Dust, CCP has decided to govern and restrict our every move. It's not for the benefit of Mercs either, it's for the benefit of EvE. Take the market for example, CCP's own economist's have said that merging the markets would be bad for EvE. I disagree, I think that EvE players will do what they have always done, they will lie, cheat, steal, backstab, extort, blackmail, kill, ****, pillage, and plunder to stay at the top of dog pile.
The citizens of New Eden do not need protection, we need to be set free to choose our own destiny. EvE is more than just a video game, it's a study into the mind of man, it's a socioeconomic petri dish of wonder and excitement. Universities around the world study what is happening in EvE just to better understand economies and the human condition. Give Dust this same chance. Open the gates and let merc run free. Stop trying to create our world and let us create it, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.
CCP released this trailer and this website. I declare that it's the Merc's time to tell the stories of how we were there. |

Robert Dasani wrote:I don't think the OP is saying anything about open world or markets specifically. The post seems to be about CCP being so controlled and measured with Dust. I read it as the OP saying to CCP, just make the game and let the players decide how it will all unfold.
Of course, I could be wrong and the OP could be asking to legalize drugs in Dust......lol
+1 for last line.
It'll come, don't worry. CCP's just being measured about it all because it's rolling out a new game with never-done-before features. |
