They're going to need more than a WP- or SP-limited game type if they want to give new players a better way to learn. But ultimately, there are only going to be so many big kids who want to beat up little kids on the playground, as everyone else considers it boring and pathetic, so I doubt this is a huge issue. There's no good way to curtail this sad behavior, other than counseling and medication, since new players will also want to experiment with LAVs and everything else. CCP doesn't actually want to curtail griefing, which it considers "emergent gameplay."
The important thing is to remove the gear advantage, which the Instant Battle Academy does. There's really no way to adjust for skill/experience advantage unless you introduce a tiered system that automatically moves players up the ladder based on performance (i.e. if you go 20-0 multiple games in a row, you will no longer get put into games with the people you've just been stomping). And since CCP hasn't implemented such a thing in the larger game, I don't see that happening in the noob zone anytime soon. |

LOL at this thread.
Really, come on.
Getting run over isn't going to turn off a newbie. Hell, it might even intrigue them. I've been run over many times and I've never thrown my controller down and said. "OMG@YGH#GQ HATE HATE HATE QUIT"
No. I laugh out loud that I got run over by a car and respawn.
This is just carebear complaining. HTFU

Run over me once, shame on you. Run over me twice, shame on me.
Adapt and find ways to kill LAV's with free fits, ie: free AV fit, hacked AV nads, counter LAV, ladder + free swarms...
They will learn, it's called the academy for a reason. |

hooc order wrote:The Robot Devil wrote:One PS3 should get one account with three toons and that's it. Use the mac address or some other unique identifier. Brilliant...so now people with only one PS3 in the house cannot have their own Dust accounts. CCP should hire you for their console marketing team.
Then offer an extra account for a price. Unlimited free accounts are bad for the game. Items that are given out as prizes or bonuses are claimed my multiple accounts and transferred to one account, starting ISK can be transferred from brand new accounts to old accounts to make ISK for free and anyone can have 20 alts sitting as spies in 20 different corps. Seems like kind of a bad idea.
Yes, I know that there is no way to transfer anything from one toon to another. Except for donating to a corp and then the corp pays a merc. Point is there is free money and equipment flying out the door and I could be building a 10M SP clone right now that will be a sleeper waiting to join the noob matches and stomp on them because I have 10M SP and no WP. |

I have been in the academy mode, but I now refuse to shoot because it's so ludicrously easy. I do go there to train newbies in my corp, but it's just sad having a vet in a noobmatch. |

If getting killed turned people off to this game no one would play.
It's like people forget we are playing a FPS war game. Why is there this obsession in some ways of dying are ok and some are not.
it's silly, overblown, and doesn't mean a damn thing. Outside of the OPs fun time, of course. |

It does suck to die over and over but that is where the need of community sets in. We should be helping our noob brothers and sisters learn the basics and how to team play. We should be advertising and offer help in channels instead of creating new accounts just to laugh at a new players ignorance and weapon limitations.

They get free unlimited Swarm launchers, in free unlimited suits conveniently labeled anti-vehicle. This is what the academy is for. If they can't put two and two together to take down a militia lav, what hope do they have in Dust? |

Step 2 start a game in accadamy with no invested skill points
Step 3 spawn as swarm launcher default
Step 4 shoot the noob LAVs for your free kills safe in the knowledge that everyone thinks there will be no av support
Step 5 laugh your ass off and collect your tears.

Goonfeet
These are Goons from EVE. Many EVE players have expressed their disgust at Dust 514. So obviously, they will run around the newbie area grieving the new players.
Personally, I understand the concept of New Eden's HTFU policy and this was introduced to me when I lost a s**tfit ship.
But then there is the Help channel in EVE. Any claim of HTFU is met with a resounding GTFO (unless they did something that was in stupidity instead of ignorance).
That's what I see the Instant Battle Academy as - Dust 514's equivalent of EVE's Help channel. Unfortunately, it lacks the moderation that the help channel has.
Goons see this and are attempting to kill off the game by exploiting this. And they are succeeding from the looks of it. |

Step 1: CCP Uses the highest WP character on your account to prohibit or allow Academy access, no matter what alt you use.
Step 2: CCP Records your IP address and/or any other unique PS3 identification they have access to.
Step 3: CCP limits your access to academy no matter what PSN you use on that PS3 and on that connection.
Step 4: Profit. Newberries don't get harassed by bitter vets and continue to play, they get addicted, buy some AUR ,and are now playing the game for the long run. |

Robert JD Niewiadomski wrote:I once was run over with a style Was standing on the hill side at Manus Peak, spamming MD. Then LAV jumped at my back whizzing into the air after running me over. It was before Uprising so i could watch them while bleeding out. The LAV made a barrell midair then landed on its wheels and gone for some more mow . I remember i felt no regret for being killed this way, lol.
I, too, was killed in an epic way by an LAV. I was running under the tabletop in one of the maps on Ambush (I forgot the name of the map). I saw an LAV heading towards me, but I dodged it, and then proceeded to shoot at an enemy merc that was in front of me with my scrambler pistol. I took his health down pretty low, and he took down my shields. But the split second before I landed the final shot, the guy seemed to stop and look at me, as if he knew something. Right before I pulled the trigger again, that LAV from before slammed into my side, killing me instantly. I'm pretty sure that I heard the guy I was shooting at laughing in his mind. |

You pathetic idiots that are doing this should be banned. You are in no way useful to the community. As far as I am concerned you are a waste of the air you breathe. CCP please wake up and do something about the children that are ruining the future of this game for you and those of us that actually want to see it last past the first 5 reviewers that get run over by one of the morons. or the thousands of players that wont come out of the academy Because They quit. While you are at it ban the afkers too they are no better and ultimately are having the same negative effect on the games longevity. |

Know what's even more fun? Watching that AV nade flying through the air, landing on the LAVs path and then the LAV vanishing in a cloud of smoke. The +50 and +40 that follow are fun too!
