The mass driver was never meant to be used like an assault rifle. Sure it did massive direct hit damage, but that was really just a matter of common sense. The beauty of it was always it's roll as a weapon that supported the squad it was used it. It was a brilliant weapon for suppression, but it was also great for flushing enemies out of cover. Landing shells just around corners and hitting walls with it would bring enemies streaming out of cover and into the gunfire of waiting team mates.
But no more. Nerfing the damage of the driver would have been at least somewhat understandable. But it now has a three meter blast. Three meters. Thats it. This has effectively killed the entire point of the driver in the first place. It is still next to useless for head to head firefights, but now it lacks even a use as a supporting fire weapon, or a weapon of suppression.
Ultimately I guess what really kills me is that the driver wasn't really all that great last build either. Even games when I got a lot of kills with it, some guy with a rifle was always ahead of me on the killboards. And that was WITH the point I had earned from doing logistics work. This, to me, is troubling. We are no longer in beta, the game has been released.
This is the way the game is meant to be. |

MD is still a scout's nightmare. So...focus on that, ruining the day of scouts who would otherwise own your AR buddies. |

it does less direct damage than the flaylock pistol. what do you mean massive direct damage?
CCP found that their office liked the MD so they knew it had to be fixed.

A scout dies in two shots from practically anything. So no, judging this weapon against scouts does not work. |
