The distinction between melee and nova knife usage is not clear to me.
Do nova knives count as a melee attack and therefore benefit from both Mynofibre whatsits catalysers, the chems that boost melee damage?
Or do nova knives count as sidearms and therefore get a damage boost from sidearm damage upgrade modules?
Or both?
Or Neither?

Nova knives in Dust 514 are NOT considered melee weapons, therefore melee damage modules will NOT apply to it. |

They're specifically listed independent of melee on the Minmatar suit bonus.
I'd say that confirms they aren't treated as melee. |

But Mimi get a buff to both and it possible that it helps the knives only way to know it to test it or ccp tell us, also dose melee with the knives count for both buffs. |

Damage mods work.
Though, anything that says 'melee damage' is not applied to the Nova Knives. Neither was the Melee aim assist that was included in Uprising.

Nova knives are a sidearm so the only way to increase damage is to fit damage mods, train your proficiency skill or run the minmitar scout suit. |

Totally not a melee.
I bought nova knives as soon as I started thinking I needed a knife for melee. boy was I wrong melee did nothing for my knives |

Well, if you train up the knives to their max and fit complex sidearm damage mods, you'll be able to deal up to 1,200 HP damage in a single charged hit. |

i had been wondering this and have heard majority leaning to a NO ... but it still perplexes me cus when i run NK's and use my melee attack it show it as a normal NK attack |

Different weapons have different melee animations. They probably just used the same the knife attack animation. |
