I've driven HAVs and been driven mad by them. I won't whine about them being Overpowered, nor shall I be upset at them being Underpowered, that isn't why I'm here. But watch the comments be filled with people who thought that anyway because those words are in the OP. I'm here to discuss something which has chafed me about some of you spoilt rotten tanker asshats. First, a qualifier, not all tankers are spoilt rotten and/or asshats, only those who meet the following condition, but watch the comments fill up with people commenting about THAT as well. I have championed this idea alone for the better part of Chromosome, but no one listened so I gave up... until I saw a thread about a tanker crying over losing one tank. Some tank pilots don't seem to understand that tanks are indeed expensive. They are like that for a reason. YOU ARE NOT. SUPPOSED. TO BUY. A BLOODY TANK. ON YOUR OWN DIME. What MORON thinks that? The tank price point is set so that the corporation gives money to its vehicle pilots to fit and prep their vehicles. If you aren't part of a corporation, you do not have any business being in a vehicle, much less a tank. If you ARE in a corporation and they are not footing the bill for the chassis and budgeting for a full set of mods, then you are in a stupid and shortsighted corporation. In EVE, you do not build a Capital or Supercapital by yourself, and by yourself you can do fuckall with it. This is the same idea on a smaller scale, so please, HAV pilots, whine to your CEO before you whine to CCP about the price point of HAVs.
Qualifier: If corporations cannot give money yet in this build, then that is something CCP needs to fix pronto to shut up these whiny HAV fellows. There are enough VALID things to discuss about the Over/Underpoweredness of HAVs without people who don't have corp support crying over not having corp support. |

I pay for my own tanks out of my own wallet. When I lose one I don't complain or whine I just HTFU and go run some skirmish matchs building up ISK to buy a new one. Because if I lose a tank it was my own fault and my Corp should not have to give me isk for the mistake I made. |

I pay for my tanks out of pocket (usually around 2-3mil) and I do my best to not lose them. But I don't cry when I do and I lose them not often at all because I play very smart. I can usually use 1 tank in about 5-10 games and by then I've already paid for my tank and some profit ontop of that. |

I would not expect my corpmates to pay for me to play as my role in a public match, unfortunately there have been times when I've had to accept money off corpmates, and I'm thankful they were generous enough to donate so that I could actually enjoy myself in the game
A Corp Battle is different, some corporations are generous enough to cover the losses of their vehicle players, but some are not. |

I generally use tanks a lot. Ya don't see me on the forum complaining about losing any.
I fund my own tanks From my own matches.
I got militia fits with militia mods, general purpose, affordable cheap, they cost a single round to restock and they last quite decently this build, or at least this early in the build since there are few with good or decent av.
Them I got my half mill standard which takes a round more or two to stock up on, still quite affordable and I got no problem with losing one, ill just restock without complaint.
Then I got my proto 1.6-1.9 mill tank. Will never use unless I know the rounds a win, but only for important battles for the most part.
Bottom line is, I deal with the loss, swallow it and buy another without complaint or any real care for a virtual tank. |

This is exactly what I am getting at. Calling in a tank to a random pub match in the coming days, now that random pub matches are not the only thing in the game, will be an unwise investment. When it comes to corporation or other greater battles, the tankers should be reimbursed by the corp they are doing mercenary work for. There is a huge difference between slamming your expensive tech into a field of randoms until it pops and using it to defend the monetary interests of the corporation. If you have the dime to fund your own tanks, that is well and dandy but also doesn't give you the right to whine about the cost of a vehicle as 'too much.' An idiom in EVE is 'do not fly what you cannot afford to lose' and that fits here to a tee. If you can't afford a tank, it isn't the tank's fault for being too expensive.
Anyway, the whole thread was just to vent and I meant nothing against tankers that tank silently and understand the economics of their hulks of steel. The idiots that think they should be able to just keep rolling in tanks as fast as a militia dropsuit dies, however, just... RANDOM ANGRY NOISES! Yaknow? |

I understand. Hopefully a lot of Tankers won't be complaining so much about ISK atm, this recent refund of ISK allowed me to stock up, and I feel very good. |

Ahem, but the skill trees are separated for the sole purpose that vehicles are to be used as a vital role in combat, not some one of a kind toy, and as a result using an HAV is a role. For any battle. Just as piloting or using LAVs, sniping or being the medic.-á |
