there are two types of hackers in the game, the support hacker and the ninja hacker.
the best support hacker (and best overall hacker) in the game is the minmatar logi, its hacking bonus and its tendancy to stick with a squad mean that hacking becomes lightning quick and gives you an edge in taking a defended objective when with a squad, with the bonuses and mods its alot easyer to hack an objective in between waves of spawns.
the ninja hacker is typically a scout, seeking undefended objectives and relying on its low profile and speed to get in, hack, and get out.
it really depends on your playstyle, and what kind of group support you have.
if you like to harass the reds from behind and mess with their battle lines then the scout may serve you better, shotgun is always a decent combo and novaknives as a sidearm keep your ammo consumption low since you wont have direct logi support for resupply now that ammo is scarce. not being as ammo relyant aslo frees up your equipment slot for things like remote explosives and active scanners to help you control and harass.
if this sounds good to you then the minmatar scout just might be your thing.
if you like to support from the front lines and constantly be in the thick of the main battle line then the minmatar logi may be more your thing, its weapon will depend alot on your squad and playstyle, an AR is always a solid choice (tac AR right now allows you to stay behind your squad while still provideding some nice cover fire) or a mass driver may be effective as well for area denyal allowing you to weakin positions behind cover and force the other team to scatter so that your squad can move in for the easyer kill.
for this playstyle your squad acts as your escort, keeping you safe and delivering you to objectives so that you can hack lightning quick and stop their respawns as soon as possable.
of course if you dont like minmatar you can use any logi/scout/medium you desire to achieve similar results and you will still be effective without forcing yourself to use a suit that you dont like. the above is true only for min/maxing your advantage. |

They are coming out with a patch tomorrow which should change almost everything. Right now Calamari Logi is win, even if you're assault. You can armor tank some, but make sure you have a proto logi with you using one of the 100HP/s repair tools or you're dead.
Intended "role" for the suit is usually not the best thing to look at. There is currently no role for a scout on the battlefield, despite what the n00bs want to tell you. Logi used to be a sort of "healer" role, but they work best with heavies, and heavies have been nerfd so much that they are pretty bad and not used anymore. And like I said before, logi > assault if you want to assault. It was even like that in the last build. |

My problem is getting a proto suit to start with. I focused more on skills than equipment, and now I have to build another 1.3 M sp to get into a low level logi suit. I don't like collecting sp for weeks to purchase an upgrade that I wont even use (basic proto) when I get my logi suit. |
