Is this something that can be brought to a GM's attention?
Would this be breaking "rules" set within the games T&C's?

You could try, if you had any proof that wasn't stupid subjective "I am sure nobody can fire that fast".
Like, basically you need to have a picture of them using the modded controller to play DUST. |

I didn't know if reported something in the "code" would show up from the clients side. I have most certainly ran into them, they are easy to tell. The sound to that gun is quite unique, so when it is firing at an ngodly speed it sounds like a tank almost shooting at you.
"Akcinzol" was the players name, it was in a skirmish match. Trust me nobody can fire that fast!
The sound is what gives it away.

I most likely will not report it.
To make sure I kept going back to where he was (Obejective E) so I was possitive that it was his gun I was hearing firing like that. Normaly it was always farther away and sounded way to fast but you couldn't tell for sure if the sound was from his gun. When far away it sounds "lighter", but up close it had a deeper sound. Lots of base through my speakers.
When the first time he was behind me and I thought a tank took me down.
He went 22-0 in what looked like a scout suite. |

based on the evidence you have provided i have come to the conclusion that the person in question did NOT use a modded controller
ive also come to the conclusion that you have never fought someone using a modded controller.
when you said ti sounds like a tank, then you have yet to hear it actually fire at an ungodly speed.
modded controlelrs fire ALOT faster than that
now if you said it sounded like a super full auto AR, then i would believe you.
when modded it sounds just like a regular AR with a slightly higher RoF
if it sounds like a tank then its not a modded controller.
people are just assuming since the weapon has a reputation as being a moders favorite, that anyone who does well with one is clearly modding it
but this is not the case, the recoil on the weapon is high enough that a modded controller would actually make the weapon worse than if you were to just pull the trigger yourself.
in essence, if he was hitting you, then he wasnt using a mod.

During my brief period of full-spec Carthum Assault Scrambler Pistol usage, I sounded like a modded controller all day every day.
Tangent time: Like all games, once people have been given a scapegoat to pin the loss of a firefight on, it quickly becomes legend amongst the underclasses. First there was lag, then aimbots, wallhacking, god mode, etc. Now, because the game is (thank christ) on PS3 and not PC, the worst we have to contend with is the accusation that someone has a function on their controller that presses the button really quickly.
If controller mods are the worst example of hacking we have to deal with in the life of Dust, I'll take it gladly. |

This is a game that puts passive skills on top of player skill. There are lots of factors that go into getting curb stomped. Modded controllers are extremely low on the list (if at all). Don't waste everyone's time with whining and baseless accusations just because you lost some suits. |

No, but you'd be much better off just quitting the game.

I didnn't just assume anything. This was the first time it ever thought once that it was a modded controller. I went back to let him kill me numerous times to tell if something was off or i was just imagining it. I ment it sounder like blaster turrets.
If you say "If it sounds like a tank then its not a modded controller" than obviously you have encountered them before. It sounded like a tank to me because i never get that much base through my speakers when I use the TAC myself or when tank turrets are shooting. |

This was the only single time I encountered one. I was just curious if "reported" there was a chanve it showing up somhow on the client side |

A modded controller used to empty a whole clip in one shot. If you could hear individual shots, it's just someone who is better than you. |

Look I happen to enjoy the game. I am not whining about anything, I adapt. Feel free to frequent all the threads that people are actually crying in. I most certainly came across one and thought I would ask if there was anything that could be done. Again read the posts above mine.
It was a simple question, no need to try to inflate your ego.
Why waste your time by answering here then? Please poinnt out where I was whining in any of my posts. |

You will know when you come across one.
It wasn't individual shots. It was a constant deep base sounding similiar to what I hear with turrets for example.
I don't care if you believe me or not.
I simply wanted to ask a question to see if there was some way to report it so it could be investigated, I ddnt post to have all the leet forum scrubs inflate there already over important sense of self by coming here acting like tools.
It was a simple question. |

I was not crying. Please point out where?
You must have really filled a gap in your life and sense of sellf by becoming a leet player of Dust 514 and calling people names on forums. Awesome bro!
I happen to enjoy the game actually. Looking at the forums most people seem to hate it and cry all day on forums indtead of actually playing the game.
See because I like it I asked a simple question, that is all. Didn;t need you showing up acting cool, but I am glad I could help make you feel sucsessful at something.
I didn;t believe the mod controller thing at first until i got killed by it and returned over four times to make sure i wasnt just imagining it.
Keep on beeing Leet on the forums bro, it must be wonderful for you. |

^_^ It'a alright, I forgive you.
Just practice a lot, and if you're not too old (like 30+ yrs old) you should be able to hit at least 500 RPM in semi auto. Full RPM of tac AR is 789.5 RPM, and that's just under 14 hits of R1 or RMB1 per second. There are plenty of players who can do that no problem. Also keep in mind that the full speed of the regular AR is 750 RPM, so a good player can make a tac AR fire faster than a normal AR if he wants to.
Don't ask me why the breach AR is in the game, as with most breach weapons it seems kind of bad. (low range, slow RoF, low damage and small mag ftw!) |

Yea, I kind of kick a little butt with the TAC-AR. The single-shot doesn't stop you if you have a healthy trigger finger, like me. :D |

I understand some players can shoot uber fast with the gun.
Trust me I am not just saying "this guy shoots fast so he must use a mod" type thing.
I have faced many fast fingered shooters for sure.
This was a completely subjective experience that you would have had to experience to know for certain it was a mod controler. I doubted it at first too, that is why I kept going back to objective E (the one he was watching) like 4-5 times to make sure I was possitive before asking the question.
I would not have posted the "persons" name unless I was possitive too. I read many threads saying people were using it and doubted what they were saying until I experienced it first hand.
The final time that convinced me I was at max 2 meteres away from him and could see him and his shots. It was obviously modded, the sound gave it away. It is a "constant" with no breaks between the "thud" type sound. It is simmiliar to what I "hear" when close to turrets and taking fire. Assault rifles are not this "fast" sounding, nor do they send out that much bass from the speakers when I am near them.
I should have been more descriptive in the OP I suppose. Really I was curious if something in the numbers would show up on the client side etc. That is why I posted in the rookie forums if you notice (i figured someone more experienced would know if something would show up on the other side), if I wanted to complain or cry the general forums would have been better suited for that purpose. |

Forgive me for what?
This has nothing to do with my skill. I am not the greatest player of Dust.. never pretended I was, who the **** cares anyway? Oh yea people like you.
You obviously lack reading comprehension skills or perhaps you have been fooled again by this sense of self created with your Leet skills at playing Dust514.
Honestly, maybe you should start treating new players with less "skill" than you with some respect. Without them how would you even know who the **** you are? LOL |

Honestly, I believe there is no point in even reporting because everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I flat out know that I have run across people that use it. I have turned ran into someone when I had 600+ life and just flop, dead, and I see them instantly reloading. It sounds like you have ten people firing in perfect cadence. Sure, someone could hit to higher levels but not like some people have.
That being said, would I ban them? To be completely honest: I can't tell for sure if that is actually what happened. I could have been hit by a sniper and shot at the same time, I could have lagged, I could even be wrong on how fast people can be with the controller naturally. When it comes to banning someone, you need to be absolutely certain and at this stage of the game, how can you be 100% certain?
Be well. |
