This is meant to add to the discussion, not be an exact solution.
Concerns have been expressed about how difficult it is/will be for new players to play in a game with veterans with superior skill point advantages and equipment advantages. My suggestions to change the focus of skills points away form a linear timeline and move to one focused on total skill points.
THE FOLLOWING IS SUGGESTED WITH NO DAILY OR WEEKLY SP CAPS
0 GÇô 4,999,999 Skill Points 1 SP per second passive (86,400 per day/604,800 per week)
5 SP per second time in match (4,500 SP in 15 minute match) 10 SP per war point earned in match (expecting about 750 earned, so 7,500 SP in a match) TOTAL expected in a 15 minute match 12,000 SP
5,000,000 GÇô 9,999,999 Skill Points 1 SP per every 2 seconds passive (43,200 per day/302,400 per week)
5 SP per second time in match (4,500 SP in 15 minute match) 10 SP per war point earned in match (expecting about 750 earned, so 7,500 SP in a match) TOTAL expected in a 15 minute match 12,000 SP
10,000,000 GÇô 14,999,999 Skill Points 1 SP per every 3 seconds passive (28,800 per day/201,600 per week)
3 SP per second time in match (2,700 SP in 15 minute match) 6 SP per war point earned in match (expecting about 750 earned, so 4,500 SP in a match) TOTAL expected in a 15 minute match 7,200 SP
15,000,000 GÇô 19,999,999 Skill Points 1 SP per every 4 seconds passive (21,600 per day/151,200 per week)
2 SP per second time in match (1,800 SP in 15 minute match) 3 SP per war point earned in match (expecting about 750 earned, so 2,250 SP in a match) TOTAL expected in a 15 minute match 4,050 SP
20,000,000 + Skill Points 1 SP per every 5 seconds passive (17,280 per day/120,960 per week)
1 SP per second time in match (900 SP in 15 minute match) 2 SP per war point earned in match (expecting about 750 earned, so 1,500 SP in a match) TOTAL expected in a 15 minute match 2,400 SP
If concern is longevity, perhaps in stead of ranges of 4,999,999 it could be upped to ranges of 9,999,999
Suggestions and Feedback welcome. (note I am bad at math and errors may occur above but I think you can all understand the premise) |

No offence but I think that's a baaaaaad idea.
FIrst off you biasing all this from your experience in an unfinished game.
When the game starts to expand more, experienced players will be fighting in places newbies wouldn't dare set foot. So they won't have to worry about coming up against proto tryhards quite so often.

I think it's really unlikely anyone will grind for 1+ years with active sp.
It's cute for the first few months but one of the reasons Eve (and its multi-decade skill tree) has lasted is that people can walk away from actually playing for a few months and not fall behind.
Active sp should be encouraged the first 3 months and then subscribers should get a full passive booster just like Eve. If you want to F2P yes you'll have to continue to be active (or buy the full passive booster on the auction house with in game isk). |

I appreciate that you make the effort to put forth suggestions but I must point out one flaw in this scheme. This is practically AFK nirvana for my handsome fellow Telcontar. |

Lets do a full reset every time someone creates a new toon to keep things fair. Also, when someone quits he gets to choose a weapon he didn't use to apply the NERF bat as a parting gift. |

Daily and weekly skill caps are a must. Any single player game no cap on how much you can do/get is fine. But the ability for anyone to farm SP all they want is ridiculous.
Faster passive for the first couple mil SP would work to help get new players in the fight faster. But beyond that I disagree. |
