Currently the attacker and the defenders start out with equal clones. Also nobody has captured anything at the beginning of the match. Wouldn't the Defender own ALL the CP's at the beginning? Also the attackers would be better prepared for battle. Perhaps have a bonus in clones or have free vehicles (that would require some sort of level to control of course.) Also a skirmish with a defender would imply that they're defending something. Maybe a factory or power plant that the attacker could over load? What if skirmish was done by levels. The attackers go through stages while the defenders do there best to stop them. Attacker(1,2) Defender(has small missions during the entire battle) Only the attackers would have a MCC. Which can be destroyed by cannons inside the defenders fortress.
Stage 1: Penetrate the enemy walls. The attacker has to get inside the building, fortress, ship, etc. This first part would focus on tactical raiding. Trying to get close enough to a door, gate, or bridge to hack to a console to open it. The defender would have multiple assets on the field and fortress. The defender must protect the gate and to have a better chance at destroying the enemy MCC can defend external pipe lines that give extra power to the already fire cannons. Multiple turrents would be available.
Stage 2: Destroy the enemy, generator, CRU, etc. This would turn into a current skirmish where the attacker mush destroy/hack multiple things to win. A timer would activate to which defender reinforcements arrive. If the timer runs out more players will join. These players could possibly be selected by high K/D ratio. The attackers would have more clones to be fair...
Also, maybe, if players were given ranks. Different ranks allowed for different control authorities. Maybe assign team commands that are a different color.(whoever fulfills this objective gets bonus WP.) Control the MCC(movement, turrets, etc). Call in installations.

Well, not to be mean OP, but you have essentially described Skirmish 1.0 (old Skirmish gametype during early closed beta before it devolved into what it is now).
Players won't get "ranks" per se but you have also described something CCP will be adding in the future (note: Soon(TM)) which are called commanders. Basically, RTS, give orders to squads, move the MCC, stuff like that.
Oh and you'll notice if you bring up the context menu when you call in a vehicle or Orbital Strike, you'll see a third option: Installations. ;) |
