Could it be that it was showing who was on the regional server you were on, first, and then now its showing a total? |

Those numbers include EVE players as well, it's bugged atm.

So DUST is actually 1809 players at the time of posting. |

I'm positive yes, and I got it confirmed that this happened to be the case. In the case where ti was smaller was most likely due to EVE numbers had gotten updated quicker than DUST numbers and as such DUST number lagging a bit.
I hope to have my numbers on my site sorted as soon as I'm not being thrown the dual count (will be subtracting the EVE number from the DUST for the selected period of time to get the DUST count (which should be fairly accurate then)).
