I've noticed that a lot of the times when I'm getting instantly mowed down by someone with an assault rifle they're often using the Duvolle or the GEK-38 models.
I'm looking at the stats on these weapons and If i'm reading this right noticing that they seem almost identical to the default assault rifles with maybe a 2-3 increase in some areas.
Is there something I'm missing with weapon stats? Do the boosts from skills really make THAT much of a difference? Whenever I'm shooting at someone I have to at least empty the magazine just to get them close to dying while I'm getting taken down in a few seconds of fire. |

Well, it may only be a small increase but have to remember that each bullet is doing 2 more dmg. Thats a 180-360 dmg per mag.
Not to mention the bonus you get from passive skills and or modules.
The passive dmg increase from skills Is 3 percent per level. And the dmg modules can be 3/5/10 and you can usually fit at least 2 on better suits.

So are the increases in stats between the default assault rifles and the ones i mentioned really just a matter of 1-2 damage and a clip size increase? I'm thrown off by the apparent disconnect between the minor improvement in stats and the large jump in price and resources needed to use the "higher quality" weapons. |

This is a game of percentages. You invest more for small % gains, and over time those %'s add up and make a big change. Rest assured you will see the difference. |

Another factor is that good FPS players have the fine muscle control to turn around and shoot you in the head with all their bullets hitting you, which will drop you very quickly. Compar that to a less skilled player who will shoot at the body as it is a bigger target and will still miss with a third or so of their bullets.
The skilled player will win most fights, not die as often, and therefor be able to afford to use expensive equipment most of the time, while the less skilled player will loose a lot more fights, will die more often, and will loose ISK if he runs with expensive equipment all the time.
So without considering damage bonuses from weapon quality, core skills, and damage enhancing modules, an expensive weapon is more likely to be used by a good player who can afford to use it, and a good player will kill you much more quickly than an average player regardless of which weapon they use. |
