No newcomer is going to stick around if their first instance in DUST is being pubstomped by players with +10mil SP, proto suits/gear, and officer weapons.
My idea is one that has been in FPS games for ages but with a bit of a twist - let players pick up dead player's weapons.
Now the only thing a player should be allowed to pick up is the weapon. Not the kit. Not the suit. Just the weapon. Think about it, most new players aren't going to be upset that the higher level players have better suits, but that they have better weapons.
Now I know what you're thinking - "HEY! I skilled for this weapon and they didn't, why should they be able to even use it?!" Well there would be downsides. It would revolve around what you've skilled into. For a newcomer who isn't skilled in much, they'd be able to pick up the weapon, but it wouldn't be as effective (but still better than their militia weapon). For example they may pick up an LR but it would overheat very very quickly, or they may pick up a Duvolle and the range would be reduced or the kick would be horrendous that way they won't feel as disadvantaged and would even give them incentive to stay and skill up accordingly to "unlock" that "uber" weapon they picked up.
Just a thought. |

There are far more important items that need to be addressed rather then implementing this type of system. Also this would lead to several exploits.
If a new player comes in and gets the crap stomped out of them in one or two games and quits, then I would prefer they go back to COD of BF. |

You did give me an idea about a salvage skill... Level up a salvage skill to pull salvage directly from dead clones instead of random drops like it is now. But I like the idea of pulling weapons from clones maybe left dpad to salvage, right dpad to equip....obviously it only work with right suit requirements, can't pull a heavy gun onto a non heavy frame, but it could definately change the style of gameplay. |

A corpmate Halador Osiris thought of a pretty decent matchmaking system kind of like the EVE missions system.
Basically pub matches are broken down into 5 levels which are given to players by NPC agents representing different EVE factions, to progress throught he levels one has to participate in a number of contracts until they earn the required standing to hit the next tier.
Tier 1- Beginner classes requiring players to use the standard Militia fits (expanded MLT fits of course one for each class type) to allow newer players to lean the ropes without having the issue of being proto stomped.
Tier 2- Represents the movement from a player being contracted by faction Militias and into being a merc, thus up to Standard Gear could be used.
Tier3- Advanced Gear building up players who have learnt the ropes in Tiers 1 and 2 and allowing them to get decent SP for higher tiers or to cover thier bases if they initially specced wrong.
Tiers4-5 are free for alls. Any gear, and equipment, maybe the inclusion of FF or other more tactical/ advanced mechannics.
basically players would be rewarded with higher ISK values that vary depending of the tier of the mission contract and then the contract itself e,g- Tier ones would play out say between 75,000 and 120,000 K (give or take) and lets say the agent offers half a dozen contracts 83K, 93K,75K, 103K, 99K,and another 83K. Players select their contract based up how much they want to earn. To me this makes sense as it makes players feel included in the universe of new edena nd the role of a mercenary as well as mirrioring EVE side missioning but also laying out pub matches in a less random way.
Newer players would have the time and somewhat of an equipment buffer against the old protostomps of yore, vets would./ should all congregate at the thier 4-5 pub missions where they could all use thier nifty toys and not have to worry about the bluedot phenomena.

Thoughts? The problem is this would bring up a major problem: What if you didn't care about K/DR? Then you could in theory use militia starter fits in the proto-games and while you would still do horribly, you get paid more. Or what about AFKing in skirmish in the proto's? While I do like your system (it really is great) CCP would first have to solve several other problems first. |

Thoughts? Was mostly level 5...now mostly level 2 but am enjoying the rebuild of a new clone. Don't even mind if I get the crap beat out of me...my character is way cheaper now..so restock is not a problem. It appears I am making more money so can't wait to get back to level 5 so I can purchase everything. Then it'll be my turn to kick butt.
