Having looked at the various suit specialisations, I'm having a hard time figuring out their worth for anyone who isn't a logi, or knife scout.
To be clear: I like the specialisation bonuses, especially the Amarr Assault, Minmatar Scout, and Gallente Logistics. But a 10x multiplier skill to get, e.g. a 10% bonus to some weapons' reload speed? That just sounds terrible, and let's not say anything about the sentinel, the poor bastard.
I would like to see these specialisations really pay off. I don't want to have to look at the hud to know that someone is a proto assault, I want to be able to see the difference in their performance, especially when they have to spend 3million sp on top of a proto suit that is already perfectly viable for their class.
I'd love to see heavies more resistant to blast damage, or scouts with bonuses to active scanner use (I tried those today, highly recommended), and I don't think it's too extreme to think these bonuses should be more like a 5x skill, not the absurd 10x. If not, perhaps have the specialisations unlock at dropsuit operation lvl3. That way, the people who just want a standard proto, can go that way, but those who want that coveted proto logi, or super laser efficient assault, aren't forced to get a proto suit completely untailored to their needs. |

because there would be too much of a performance gap. Dust 514 is based on teamwork,strategy, and risk/reward. if you add to the high end suits, you take away from the necessity of teamwork
Shields = explosive/kinetic resistant. weak to EM/thermal Armor = thermal/EM resistant. weak to explosive/kinetic choose your fights and fits accordingly
one thing that every dust merc needs to know if they are not a long time EVE pilot: CCP WILL Change the dynamics. you must adapt. for example. minmatar suits are my favorite in bonuses and i think the best. in 6 months they might change bonuses and then caldari might have the best suits. leaving it up to players to adapt and use teamwork.
CCP is sneaky like that. trust me. they will not be nerfed forever. get into the lore and roleplay of new eden and choose from there |

Did you SEE how many times those guys overheated the Scrambler Rifle?
Just saying - less feedback damage would probably be a good thing when you're firing in a freaggin panic. |

Lol, true, although anyone with the 5million sp to make use of such a bonus shouldn't really need it, and to give a light weapon bonus to a heavy seems even more bizarre. |

it makes the bonus talk less relevant. they cycle bonuses and OP one at a time until the next time around when they start to equalize it. like they do in EVE
there is a fine line between diversity and OP. and making more of a gap is crossing the line. i dont know if you have seen the proto suits. before this patch i was in an advanced logi suit with 500+ armor and almost 200 shields with a triage nanochive. that **** was like playing an AR heavy with a personal logi.
the suit is what you make it.
the one downfall of that amazing suit is that i had to stay in the nanochive bubble. so it was amazing at defending a point and total WP harvester... mess with the fits. try something new. thats how we EVE pilots do. everyone expects you to run up using a certain gun with a certain type of tank and bla bla... then someone gets brave and puts their reputation on the line and changes the whole "standard/expected" fit until the next patch. CCP loves people to exploit their game so they know what to nerf and how to nerf it |

Your logi fitting isn't an example of specialisation, it's just a powerful fitting. You've given a false equivalency. |

ok. how is this invalid? i had an advanced suit with 3 times the hp of militia suit that repped almost the same speed as having my personal logi. AND I WASNT EVEN IN A PROTO SUIT YET!!! i dont even wanna see how OP i would have been in a proto suit. would be no fun having no competition.
so me getting creative with a fitting in an advanced suit already equals 3 times the hp of militia, 120% of the damage, self reps, self ammo, good grenades, and you are asking for more of performance gap between proto and militia when there is already this gap?
thats why i say. try out some new fits, get creative and you might find that there is more of a gap than you think |

get creative. that is New Eden. make the best outta what you have. if you master the basic suit. then move on to the specialized proto suit. if you have not maxed out and tried all fittings for that dropsuit. which almost nobody has then dont complain. they are specialized for very specific squad roles. they are not for solo play. they are meant purely for squad. |

But Aeon, even if the rifle is so easy to overheat, and even if it does self damage, it is a light weapon while the Sentinel is a Heavy suit. You probably wouldn't skill into a Heavy suit for a Light weapon (Scrambler, Laser), plus the major issue isn't that the skill does something useless or odd, but that it doesn't match the suit. ALL Scouts get a smaller signal radius. ALL Assault get a faster shield recharge. ALL Logistics get a get a bonus to self armor repair. What do all Heavies get? Something which doesn't effect any heavy guns. It makes Hoovs feel kind of slighted, plus if any of the heat-ing guns we have now are an example, the overheat animation is so long that you are gonna be dead if that happens in a firefight anyway...
Maybe less Heavy Weapon heat buildup would be a better universal heavy skill, like how the Amarr Assault has less Laser weapon heat build. |
