Hi everyone,
I am a new player, just got into DUST, a few questions.
Does the race of your suit conflict at all with the "race" of your weapons? AKA, is it sensible to laser rifles on a gallente suit?
I have played around for quite a few hours, starting to get a feel for console shooting. Very happy with the gameplay, but find myself being outclasses by certain weapons, such as the Duvolle.
Is this just an SP deficit on my part?
Are tanking and gunshipping viable while still being able to do some ground pounding?
I am most interested in the Gallente suit, what are some interesting or different things I can do with their mid or light?
I kind of don't want to just run around with an assault rifle for ever, are other choices viable?
Thanks! |

duvolles are prototype gear so in that case its probably a lack of sp
and its a bit tough trying to be good with vehicles and still unlock a specialized suit and all the stuff to go with it
as for suits check out how many slots they have and the specific skills tied to the suits the main skill or a race's dropsuit says what bonuses it has
as far as weapons go they all are viable for the most part just depends on what playstyle u can work with |

Welcome!

No, they do not conflict. In some cases, such as Amarr/Laser rifle, some of the suits have bonuses for specific weapons but generally they are all compatible with each other.

Yes, unfortunately. Don't give up, just find a good group to run with who can help keep you alive until you have enough SP to be competitive. Find roles which level the playing field, like smushing proto gear with an LAV or throwing explosives, perhaps.
>>Are tanking and gunshipping viable while still being able to do some ground pounding?
Not at present. Hardly anyone has enough SP to dual-spec. In the last build this was easily possible but SP requirements have increased and many can barely afford a single domain to be competent in.
>>I am most interested in the Gallente suit, what are some interesting or different things I can do with their mid or light?
If you choose the light slot and select "Go to Marketplace" it will list all of the things you can fill this slot with. This is a new feature. It's kind of neat.
>>I kind of don't want to just run around with an assault rifle for ever, are other choices viable?
Shotguns are nice. Weapons are likely to be rebalanced fairly dramatically because they've all changed and there's lot of drama around none of them being any good. |

So I ended up putting some SP into getting the Light Gallente Dropsuit.
I like it.
But.
I have no idea how to fit the thing. I mean, what's the role of these? Can I just base my plans on what I saw on pre-uprising guides? Or wait for new ones?
I think fast + shotgun would be quite cool, as mentioned above. I don't like snipers. Anyone have thoughts on mass drivers? |

Mass drivers is a highly useful tech for destroying LAV, HAV, and dropships. I would recommend you make a Light Dropsuit with the shotgun, but created an assault load out or a mass driver load out. |

Welcome to New Eden!

No, you can use whatever weapon you want in any suit, as long as you meet the PG and CPU requirements for it.
I have played around for quite a few hours, starting to get a feel for console shooting. Very happy with the gameplay, but find myself being outclasses by certain weapons, such as the Duvolle.

People are crying at the moment that the Duvolle is doing a bit too much damage, but yes, the Duvolle tactical assault rifle is a prototype weapon, so it is probably an SP deficit.
Are tanking and gunshipping viable while still being able to do some ground pounding?
Yes, dropping in tanks are really useful for helping the ground troops with taking objectives and decimating the enemy team, they are also really good for destroying enemy tanks. As for dropships, all that they are really used for is transporting troops in the battlefield, and occasionally destroy other dropships and tanks. You don't get much points from being a dropship pilot, so it is recommended that you spec into ground combat aswell.
I am most interested in the Gallente suit, what are some interesting or different things I can do with their mid or light?

If you want to have fun with Gallente light frame suits, try using shotguns. With your low scan profile(how easily you can be detected in the radar) and fast run speed it is really fun sneaking behind enemies and blasting them with shotguns up close. It does require quite a lot of practice to be able to hit your targets and dodge gunfire though(scout suits don't have that much health, so they rely on mobility and stealth to avoid being killed rather than just tanking the hits).
As for medium frame suits, speccing into the logistics speciality would give you two equipment slots, allowing you to support your friends in the battle by reviving/repairing/resupplying them with whatever equipment you decide to pick. And mass drivers on medium frame suits are really fun, if you can learn how to master the firing arc.
Thanks!

if you wanna shotgun run, the minmatar light, with a kinetic catalyzer and an armor repper work fine. I've done this myself with ALL militia and it works better than Minmy Medium + LR/SMG |
