I think that having good player feedback (not hyperbolic, vague, angry rant type stuff) is essential for this to become a quality game, and I've been trying to imagine a system which would facilitate filtration of the bad feedback from the good.
Bear with me, many people may stop reading after I make this comparison, but I think it is an idea worth at least voicing.
I think that it might be feasible to have a subsection of the forums which implements a heavily controlled Reddit style system for feedback using upvotes and downvotes for certain feedback and suggestions. I can see that this might result in some ridiculous feedback being at the top when there is an upwelling of player anger such as now, but overall I think it would make it easier to find useful, well thought out player feedback (which would probably usually be around the 4-20 top upvoted range for feedback).
If you hate this idea already then read no further, but if you still find it viable then I'll explain some controls I think would be needed on this type of system. 1st, it would need to be heavily moderated for on topic content (threads must be feedback, not arggghh I hate this or troll posts); those who post off topic content on this feedback subsection of the forum more than once should probably be banned from the subsection. 2nd, accounts with characters in a particular corporation should not be able to vote on threads or ideas created by that corporation's members; the aim of this is to prevent corporations from artificially boosting ideas from their own members to the top of the list. In addition to this each account may only vote once on any given thread, so one would have to make multiple accounts to abuse the system. 3rd, each IP may only vote once on any given thread, this would make it so potential abusers would have to make multiple accounts AND us proxy servers or vote from different locations to boost thread score. 4th, if a player is does this and is found to be abusing the system the punishment should be harsh (perhaps permaban of main account, while you can make multiple accounts; you can't immediately regain all the sp you would lose).
This is my idea, I may be being to harsh in punishments, and the concept as a whole may be totally unnecessary, but at least it's feedback :P. |
