I dont expect Dust to have 1M players on at once but what number would be considered successful?
Because we are playing 16v16 matches which will step up to 24v24. So, if we have 5K members on at one time then youre talking more than 100 independent matches going on. I'm thinking that as long as you dont run into the same people every match then it's cool.
But how many online members are needed to deem Dust a success? 10K? 50K? 100K? |

my question is.. we see # of players logged into Tranquility when we log in... isn't EVE also on Tranquility? is this all accounts logged onto the server? or is it actually the #s of DUST characters logged on?
back in the Socom days a good night had around 30k players at peak times, and would hover around 10k consistently.
that was NOT a worldwide game, but just north America
COD logs 100s of thousands when it first comes out and stays that way for a couple months before tailing off, of course then a few months later the new version arrives and same thing over again..
4000 players is not much. hell if ALL players were in corps. ALL doing PC. that would be 125 districts (32ppl per match)

10k would be a good start, World of tanks has around 30k+ during peak time, and around 10k during off time |

If the average amount of players on the server is 40 minutes a day.
And the average amount of players online at any one time is 3500.
That means that the average total amount of players playing dust per day is 120,000.

NOOOOOOOOOO. Lulz, the EVE login screen shows how many players are online and it's always between 25 and 50 thousand players. |

Yeah, i didn't want to compare it to COD because I already know that that isn't going to happen. I was just wondering what is acceptable? 30K sounds like a more logical goal at this point but then socom was largely successful |

U guys are looking at the numbers the wrong way. This game and ccp are not like other game developers. At launch any number above 0 is a success for them because they don't count on initial sales of their games. U have to remember the eve has been growing for most of 10 years (I think there was 2 releases that the total player count was down out of 13 releases) eve was released with a total of 3000 subscribers they said at fanfest that they already had 20k Toons in dust. Now this isn't a sub game but I'm sure their aur sales are still pretty decent and are only going to go up. So what I'm saying is there is no hard number that they need to count it a success because their success is measured over time not on release. |
