Well i was gunna post this in the thread Cmdr Wang just locked,
-Anyways,
I had a question for Eterne, or CCP or David, Well let's just say whoever decides to answer the question.
Regards the statement:

May i ask -- What are the reasonings behind wanting to take a more grassroots approach, opposed to taking the full on marketing blitz?
i Personally believe that if you were to take a much slower(grassroots) approach, it will affect the overall achievement you sought out to achieve.

My guess is it would be better for them long term if they do what they are planning because atm the game is not ready to be released. When they launch on the 14th they will get some new players that will stay and get a lot that will quit. If they did ads and all of that good stuff you would have a very large amount of people quit and they would not come back later down the road. By releasing ads later on they can get new people in that have never heard of the game, and a much larger number of them will stay because I assume the game will be a lot better by that time. This is just my guess as to why. |

Yeah i agree that by then, whenever that may be.
forsure the game will have become alot better
You never know tho, this whole "slow approach" could take another year to fully take affect, who wants to play the same people for a year again. (it gets a little boring) |

yep. it's a long term strategy.
you are just used to the media blitzes of games that have about 3 months to make the bulk of the profit they will ever make on said game so they are moving on to the next blitz. Those companies have shareholders. CCP does not. CCP has deep pockets as well. So you are just seeing an approach you aren't used to because not many companies have the luxury to approach their product sales in such a way.
It's actually refreshing.
