Between enemies jumping around like rabbits and lag skipping from place to place I am having a HORRIBLE time trying to play as a sniper.
I'm using a mouse so it's not as if I'm jerking around using the controller to aim.
And is there a means of zooming in the scope? The default zoom seems horribly insufficient and even at the furthest I've set myself up I'm somehow being counter sniped by assault rifles which is ticking me off. |

I play with KB/M too.
I found that usually "mouse smoothing" option severely limits your ability to spin around when running with AR, however when it is turned on, it works very well for sniping, by allowing you to do small adjustments while scoped in.
As for extra zoom: no, no such option. As for aiming: well, gotta find appropriate targets. Look for enemy snipers, people changing kits at supply depot, people waiting for their LAV/HAV to be delivered (those are the funnest to snipe).
It is possible to hit moving targets, just got to aim slightly ahead. How much ahead? Well, first try shooting straight at him, as he moves you will actually see the small (blueish/brownish) bullet impact behind him. Now note the distance between the target and that bullet impact, and apply that same distance when leading the next shot.
Finally, position is everything. Don't snipe from behind the red line. Firstly, everyone knows you are there, secondly the angle is not always good. Position yourself so that you are in-line between 2 flags, and when infantry try to attack a flag, they are coming towards/away from you. |

well the lag skipping is worse in this build, then the last, but you get used to it....either that or give up sniping.
tac AR's can still counter snipe, but only to a minor degree.
as for zoon, use proto rifles they tend to have a higher zoom. though I'd love a variable scope.

Issue that I am having seems to be more sway when scoped. |

It has become significantly more difficult since the patch. In addition the damage done has been reduced, since the weaponry (damage bonus) skill no longer applies.
Dampeners have now become far more relevant now for the sniper as well as the target. You are going to have to rely heavily on your teams location and feed off their local scans.
You will also have to become like some sort of super Buddhist zen monk, and rely on the force to dictate how you have to follow your target, and hit him 2, 3 or 4 times while he is bunny hopping at across the screen. Yes you will have him lit up, but by the time you see the spot and your finger hits the trigger button they friggin move.. ;-) Even then you have to get all the shots off in 2 to 4 seconds before they run behind cover...
When I was playing the role of Sniper before the patch I felt they were way overpowered.. It was very common for me to get 30+ kills in a match without even taking a hit... Now after the patch it is more like 12+ kills and about 12 assists, which I feel is far more balanced....
Sniper is a highly skilled roll now. Meaning if your skills are not spec'd properly for the role. Just picking up a tactical sniper rifle at whim, and shooting. Will just lead to a lot of fist banging on the table ;-) |
