Gone are the days of cramming top tier gear into a mid-range suit without any upgrades or just skilling in to a proto suit and dropping in whatever you want. So far from Uprising I've noticed that the proficiency upgrades and additional levels increase the efficiency of different weapons, modules, etc. Sure you can get into something quickly, but at the cost of CPU/PG. To boost these levels there now is only a few options and then you must skill each component to make it fit with the other shiny stuff.
It takes a lot more thought to gain complex damage, shield extenders and other things to keep you alive. But I have noticed that the AR isn't the instant drain it used to be.
Kudos to CCP for making what I think is a stronger game mechanic that will keep you going longer than skill into proto suits, proto AR and stomp away. |

Agreed. Tighter fitting restrictions was a good call. |

One thing too that happens. By skilling some things to lvl 5 and then running only advanced gear, it uses significantly less CPU/PG which in turn allows you to use the newly acquired proto weapon, equipment, etc until you increase the efficiency to then combine proto with proto. Having the item available does not mean you can instantly use it with everything else, so more skill up or shuffling of what you equip to get gains here and there. Should result in more fits/options being run by folks which increases variance and adaptability to your playing style. |

I had to give up grenades in order to fit a Proto Swarm Launcher with my current skills, but I figured that when using a Swarm Launcher I would be too far away to use grenades anyway. Choices: they keep the game interesting. |
