Thanks to the big range nerf across the board many people now get in real close to try and get kills. I found this is now bringing lots and lots of people well within my SMG optimal range and I mow them all down in seconds and that's only with the militia - I'm gonna try proto out when I can get back on.
Also, people seem to have lost the ability to hit moving/strafing targets, so my skinweave scout SMG fit is working wonderfully - I can close people down in moments and spray all over them without even losing my shields then run off before their friends can come help.
Who said SMGs would be worthless in Uprising? pah |

Good to know.
I've been thinking about going more into it and mostly ignoring ARs. |

Django I'm having the opposite experience right now. I ran a A Series Scout with 2 complex shield extenders and a Ishukone in the last build. I regularly went 14-2 in matches and considered myself one of the better SMG scouts out there.
Last night I admittedly only played a few matches but I was using the Mk.0 mini light suit with 3 complex extenders and a mid level assault SMG and couldn't get anything done. I got dropped so fast even with strafing and I regularly saw that it was from assaults with upwards of 700-800 EHP on the killscreen. I actually killed more people with my nova knives.
Are you using the DS3? What level of sensitivity are you on? Any tips? |

I came to a similar conclusion last night - the SMG isn't overpowered but it is definately a more balanced weapon when compared with others now. The Minmater Assault bonus to clip size for sidearms doesn't look so silly to me now. :) |

I need to double check the actual efficiency rating, but I get the impression that SMG and HMG now do less shield damage and more armor damage.
I had a bit of a murder spree last night when I tossed a flux grenade into a wasp's nest and cleaned them all out first with 100 rounds of the HMG, then two clips of my SMG. Prior to that, the SMG felt like a peashooter against shields.
I'll try to get some efficiency numbers behind this theory soon. Could be the same, I dunno. But flux grenades are key to getting more mileage out of the weapon. |

There is definently a marked difference between shield and armour damage with the HMG. |

SMG should never have been considered a sidearm. Because it doesnt function like one. Its not a true SMG cause of range(well except maybe the assualt variants) but they arent quite Machine pistols either.
Oh and they suck against shields as they should. IF they tear through shields its likely cause of dmg mods and a high proficiency.
Im using Ishukone assault SMG(lvl 1 proficiency) and maxxed SS(meh if anything on an smg). With 1 dmg mod on a gallente logi still cant do much against shields unless its <150-200. Anything more and ill waste my clip just trying to strip the shields.
Yes flux and SMG rock, so does flux and any bonus dmg to armor weapon.
The reduced ranges which has pullled everyone closer and killed the mid to mid-longrange game is what makes this strategy viable. Once ranges are fixed then that tactic should still be viable but now its harder to get within those ranges since you are more of a target to anyone who spots you at range because you didnt move in enclosed spaces or cover to cover and stuck to your niche.
Last night flux nade was the clear winner of the night. Followed closely by locus nades (mainly because there are no grenade indicatiors) |

Im maining SMG with nova knives on my minnie scout...LOVING IT. Although the dispersion seems significantly more prominent than in chromosome even when skilled up. |

Agreed. The sharpshooter removal was glorious. Us SMG guys were already used to getting right up close, only now we only have to close 10-20 meters to slaughter ARs instead of the entire gosh-dang map.
Though, is it just me, or is it harder to tell whether your bullets are hitting successfully in this build? Something has become less satisfying about successful hits and kills. |

But assaults are moving at almost the same speed of a recon, it's not worth to be a recon if you can be an assault, with the same speed and more hp. And yes SMG is very usefull. |

while this IS true, you still have significantly less stamina and recharge and cant jump nearly as well. im running catalyzer and cardiac on my lows with minnie scout. well over 300 stamina and an 8.99 sprint speed currently means out-running/out-lasting/out-maneuvering many other setups out there.
i ran assault for most of chromosome and never once did i feel like i wanted to use up slots to be as fast as a recon, i used up slots on modules that benefitted my assault class , not to turn it into a scout. ya know, like armor reps and shield stuff. |
