Alright since i've had a freaking few hours to chew on this I am disappointed with the new SP skill system.
Given that CCP said we would easily (maybe with a couple hours of running battles) would be able to refit our suits we have been using and bring them online I imagine that their own assessment isn't great here.
But here's the problem: for everyone who's not a 14mil obssessive that has a life we have a choice: You may have your old dropsuit and weapons, or you can have your old fitting/support skills. pick one.
Example: I was running fully rigged up proto heavy suits and did not require aur items to make up for an SP gap on a required skill. I used AUR suits in the end because i find it amusing to **** away twenty bucks one dropsuit at a time. I had the support skills to make good use of the fittings and had dropsuits 5, and HMG and forge proficiency at 3 each.
Currently: my same amount of Sp has achieved most of the fitting skills to round out the dropsuit. I could only afford to purchase three frames at level 1 (no specialist suits) and Assault rifle 2.
i was expecting to be able to hit my weapon skills, support skills and medium or heavy frames to 5 with maybe a reasonable grind. this didn't happen despite CCP saying that was the intent.
I also find myself with useless dropsuits in the raven, sever and valor. possibly the dragonfly too. i'll look later.
I appreciate the SP reduction on the basic dropsuit frames. Good idea. i don't mind the prerequisites being expanded a bit on a lot of the stuff. I play EVE. stupid prerequisites are a way of life for me.
But. I would request the support skills that were sharply increased to be dropped back to reasonable levels (chromosome multipliers) so we can fulfill the promise.
Even so, we may need to consider higher SP caps and rewards so the new player experience feels like the new players are progressing rather than 4-5 months grinding cores and being stick in militia shitfits the whole time.
new skill tree? Awesome idea and implementation. +1.
it's the multipliers that are killing the dream here.

I agree with most of this, or all of it, Im partially tired. The one problem I have with the current SP system is it made players who bought active boosters and played with them an advantage to average players who do not have the money on active boosters. My character has been active for 3 months now, and even with the 3x SP event that just happened, I only made about 2,300,000 sp total. With others making upwards of 1,000,000 in a couple of weeks with the boosters. Im not saying it discourages playing without AURUM. I am saying that without it, you will be left in the dust by everyone who has spent hundreds of dollars just for boosters. |

What is the future of the game going to look like with this system, with how much of an advantage it gives those with time and money?
What are the intentions of CCP with Dust514, what's their target, who do they want playing and eventually coming to like the game enough to start investing in AUR?
Right now it's heading down towards a path of hardcore dedicated players exclusively, barring a fresh player who doesn't know better appearing every now and then, and it hasn't even "been released" as a non-beta. I wish them good luck in figuring this very important goal out and working towards it, even if it's at the price of getting hardcore dedicated players angry that they're no longer able to soak ten players worth of bullets before taking out those ten players with one bullet each.
(That's my big #1 feedback overall of Dust 514 as it stands. Would prefer a Battlefield 3'y balance of earnings:equipment and skill:gear) |

+1. It's gonna take me forever just to get as good a skillset as I had before minus the range |
