I posted an Uprising Mini-Review, since it's not really a full review, nor is it much detailed. Not much new in here for most of you. I thought it would be interesting to hear what things you would put under the various "Things I..." categories I have in it...
Things I like:
- Faster loading GÇô the game took just over 2 minutes to get to merc quarters, which is longer than the 1:30 they said it would take, but still a good change
- Gaphics GÇô much improved! The game looked quite bad before, and now looks significantly improved. IGÇÖm sure they can still do better, but I would no longer say the graphics are bad. However, one of my main concerns has always been performance GÇô I would take worse graphics just to have better fps. The game does at a glance feel like it not only looks better but runs a little faster too, but will have to try some more maps which I know have trouble spots
- Kill screen GÇô itGÇÖs great being able to see information on who killed you!
- Starmap looks awesome, very well designed for console
- Skill tree GÇô this is a much better way of presenting the skill tree for players. I donGÇÖt have any comment at the moment on the way in which skills have been redone
Selecting spawn point with keyboard GÇô some spawn points were difficult to select with keyboard previously, but seem to be easier now
Things I donGÇÖt like:
- Handling of AUR reimbursement GÇô CCP is worried about some of us getting millions of AUR, but I suspect for a few reasons that this is the best option for them. And I really donGÇÖt want some of the suits of which I only have one copy anyway. The point of reimbursement was that we might skill into something else, so we need to get our stuff refunded so we can buy what we would have bought
- Lack of racial suits GÇô I used to play scout, but without any reassurance of another reimbursement, IGÇÖm loathe to skill into minmatar or gallente scout when I may end up wanting amarr scout in the end, anyway
Things IGÇÖm unsure about:
- Cloaking GÇô previously, camping a CRU or uplink was a good way to get some kills, completely biased against the one spawning. Now, with the cloaking, I imagine it will be a dangerous affair to camp a spawn or even just hack a CRU or cannon! You can turn around while cloaked, so if you spawn at a good spot you can line up a good headshot and shoot your opponent before they know they are there. Whether this will be a problem or not, we shall see!
(Little) Things Dust 514 still needs:
- End-game chat GÇô need the ability to gloat or question other players in the post-game screen
- More stats on weapons and dropsuits - I was hoping dropsuit stats would show scan profile, precision, those sorts of things. Also, I was hoping for more weapon stats than Uprising has
- Assists GÇô show how many assists players had
Things I donGÇÖt understand:
- Mouse complaining on forums GÇô my mouse feels little different to before. ItGÇÖs a little harder to aim at a still target, which is weird, but rotation speed feels about the same. Although, I am using a very cheap wireless mouse. I did in the previous patch try out two expensive gaming mice, and neither of them felt like they gave me as much control as the cheap one. Perhaps something has changed with these more expensive mice. I will likely test them out again sometime
- Cheaper ISK gear GÇô I am very worried about how CCP are going to manage economy links between Dust and EVE. They are not making the kinds of decisions with relation to the Dust economy that I think they need to make in order to make a more seamless Dust/EVE economy link.
