Some of my vocabulary might be wrong but i honestly see no problem with the current amount of points it takes to to get suits.
it costs roughly 1 million skill points to get a basic armor skill for a race and size to level 5 and also level 1 of the desired logistics or assault /heavy variant.
Of course to go full Amarr assault medium for example to max level 5 it would require a total of 2.5 million which nobody should be investing that much into one suit imo at this point of the game.
I am not sure why people are so upset with these numbers. Everyone had me horrified i would not be able to get into the suits above milita but i think some numbers were over-exaggerated a bit. This game is now just launching and there is plenty of time to gather more points and keep leveling up.

People are thinking of the racial "frame" suits (Light, Medium, Heavy) as no better than Militia, when they're actually an almost-equivalent to our Chromosome suits, and cost less SP to skill into. The specialist suits are a new tier, NOT the suits we're used to.
There are issues with skills - specifically in vehicle skills not providing their passive bonuses - but the system itself is a good one. |

diggin the new skill system hard.
i would be a lot more ragey however if my buffer of sp wasnt enough to basically get me to where i was before uprising as far as skills. Just barely made it lol, things are so much more expensive. speccing into lav's for my tank my ass... |

The only real issue i see is for logi players. I found that NONE of the basic suits give extra equipment slots and force me to into the advanced suits. Other than that most of the suits are very affordable and fair. |

I am enjoying it, even as a logi. But, I also had a little under 7 million SP. not so sure I would be as thrilled as a new player. Found a go to fitting that spares little CPU and PG. I will probably sit on that for a few months while I continue to skill up. Not thrilled with having to go for Logi V at some point. 
My only other gripe is that there are still so many skills that only unlock equipment or modules. Even a 1-2% per level bonus would have been nice. Maybe in the future.

becuase in eve it doesn't take 5 months just to max out a single race's frigate skills to 5 :/
