So I was really excited to come home from work today and try out all the new things that CCP had to offer. Unfortunately all they seemed to do was dissapoint and here is why.
The laser rifle was nerfed to the ground harder then a warrior in cataclysm (WoW reference). Less zoom which I was ok with. Less damage which I was also ok with. But combined with iron sights it made it unbearable. add in the feedback damage increase and the fact that it overheats faster (with max skills it overheats with 33 bullets remaining while it used to be down to 20) and you have an overall cruddy weapon. Also there were many times I was outranged by a duvoule AR which kinda defeats the purpose of a laser rifle. This is a futuristic game. Why does it need iron sights? With the amount of feedback damage you recieve from the extremely fast overheat I would have figured that the targeting system would at least be integrated to the suit?
The next item is the horrible terrible color of the logi suits. Yellow? Really? just scream to the enemy "Hey there im the logi on my team shoot me first!" Its not like we need a big object saying we are the healers. We dont get immunity like the red cross providing humanitarian aid. Even the proto is yellow. if this is another joke like it was with the golden retriever in Eve, then it needs to be fixed ASAP. Someone had a "Bright" idea.
The pure amount of skills required to get into suits is rediculous as well. CCP told us we would be able to get into the suits we had before but I couldnt afford everything I used to have (I have 9.3 million SP). I get to specialize in one weapon. I used to have Logi with a little bit of heavy on the side. Didnt have enough skill points to even get to proto logi with all the same gear I had before.
The last issue is the supply depots... you took out our ability to freely change suits at the depot but gave tankers the ability to recall their vehicles? Yeah we can still change suits but we lose the suit we just changed out of as if we had just died in it. This needs to be fixed. If tankers can save their tanks we should be able to save our suits. It feels like us ground troops are getting punished for making smart tactical decisions by changing our suit to one that suits the situations we get ourselves into. I ran a laser rifle. it sucked getting up close to someone with an AR or shotgun. Sometimes i could make it to the depot and change into my HMG and survive. Now i may as well just die cause im going to lose the suit either way.
Overall the game looks nice, the interface is better, and the load times got drastically reduced. But this has been a classic example of how CCP takes their nerfs too far (incursions).

its hard to kill a guy with all gun now so i think laser and hmg going become useless in this build , with ar gun it took a while to kill one guy if he good on running so laser have to kill some guy just stand still |

That better happens on may 14, it's official release, and this game at the current state it's far... really far from an official release. |

Have to agree, the yellow is absolutly horrible, and looks completly out of place, and imo just doesnt fit at all with the colour themes across new eden. And i always thought the CCP art guys were fanaticaly zealous about how things in new eden look cant believe they let this suit in it sticks out like a sore thumb.
So yeah imo, get rid of the horrible yellow suits please.

Every single thing is not doing as much damage as you are used to ;) you have to skill up into things now. There is no more OP weapon anywhere until people start investing again into actual dropsuit and weapon combo specialization. |

The iron sites on the LR block the target. It is like trying to aim using a coin the size of a quarter to aim other than that I am on for now. I will play some more and let them tweak for a day or two. |

Why did the LR get an M16 ironsight and AR gets the ironsight with a thin tip. IMO, I think these sights should be switched. |

agreed.
TBH the LR doesn't even need any sort of sight. just start shooting and walk the beam onto target...
I'm using the LR and while it does seem weaker, it feels about right. |

Agreed with everything OP said 100%. As an avid LR user, it just doesn't seem like a viable choice for a weapon anymore. I am ok with a nerf on damage (which is painfully onvious to those who used it regularly during Chromasome) and I can even stomach the range nerf, but those iron sights are so atrocious. I used to have a knack for aiming at an enemy's head and keeping the laser on it for quick max kill efficiency. Now, when I ADS, I can't tell what I am even aiming at. Tbh, I don't even ADS while I fire it now because at least I can see which body part I am making contact with. Almost every LR user will agree...give us back our old sights. Keep everything else, but for the love of everything good, give at least THAT back to us. |

Ive posted a couple of times on this already, the LR ADS Iron's are abysmal, they make the weapon un-usable. the sights on the AR are fantastic and so easy to aim with, but the hood on the LR onscures everything and ruins your periphery vision. |

How am I still using it to kill people then? Quizzle me that guys.
Edit- I wouldnt mind some quicker aiming while in iron sights... but other than that im cool with the new direction they are going in. |

Iron sights on the LR need to go. Nerfing range, damage is fine but being able to see what you are aiming at is very important. |

I makes some sense as you could use the supply depot to replenish your nanohives, droplinks etc. which I do not think is its intended purpose. I do not think this is a bug. |

That feels like a much needed indirect buff for vehicles and dedicated AV guys.
In the past the dedicated AV guy lost out to a lot of assaults who would switch to the free SL and make him redundant. Vehicles also took a big hit because everyone was a potential AV user. The dedicated AV role is now more valued and may be protected better by his team (or not, assuming mindless pub matches). |

Check the suit changing thing again...I checked and it did not remove a suit. Laser upgrade from Amarr suit allows for 3 pts more to over heat... so laser over heats at 40 left..with 1 suit upgrade it is 37. This will be theoretically 25 at lvl 5. Does anyone have the numbers where elm and Viz over heat at? Is there a range buff to higher end lasers?
As it stands one can barely kill a suit without overheating...I actually believe near impossible to kill a heavy with a clip, and overheat punishment is 150 dmg....geez that is punishment. I get lots of assists. Nerf hammer came hard.
So a weapon that over heats...and hurts you bad, only one way to reduce heat up time (amarr suit assault), reduced and bulky sights, no range buff, huge decrease to time to overheat across all types, only viable at range 50 to 80 meters, anyone jealous yet they aren't a full time laser? Did I miss anything?
The tactical AR will stomp lasers...any gun will stomp lasers up close. NEW PAPER WEIGHT. |

The sights are obtrusive and the range seems low. I thought the LR out ranged the AR but I must be wrong because I am getting hosed by ARs and I can't touch them. The heat build up is very fast even in the higher tier weapons. I am going to stick with the LR and try to switch tactics but it is very hard to hit something you can't see. |
