Passive = 24,000 Skill Points a day Active = 19,200 Skill Points a day.
That is 302,400 a week. To get a level 1 skill to level 5, it takes 310,920. For pure ease, let's call it a week without boosters. Since the Skill Multiplier is simply multiplying 310,920 by the multiply number (so a level 2 skill would be 621,840 and so on), we can easily determine how long it would take to access to a skill.
Let's say I want to use my (now worthless) Sever Logistics Suit. Just to get into the suit, I need Minmatar Medium to 5. That's six weeks. If I want to use other basic gear, the time just keeps increasing. Or those free suits like the Quafe Suit or the Black Eagle suit now need weeks of training...
I understand that the idea of the change was to slow down people getting into Prototype gear but the primary change seems to be slowing down the time it takes to do even the most basic job massively. Why not have a change like:
Basic X Assault Suit: x1 "Allows the user to use basic X assault suits." Advanced Assault Suit: x3 "Allows the user to use advanced x assault suits." Requires level 4 Basic X Assault
That way, people would take just as long to get to prototype but the new guy that wants to use Logistics doesn't have to spend 6 weeks.
In EVE, I can start a Caldari and in one hour, be able to use every basic Frigate of every race. In a day, I could use every level 3 Frigate (Kestrel, Rifter, etc). In DUST, it would take much longer to even use one other race's suit.
This change will cause a massive rift between players that just started and players who have been playing for even a month before them. Before the change, someone who had been playing a 6 months and someone playing 2 months both, basically, had access to the same level of suits if they both chose to do the same role. The difference is that Mr. 6 Month had more options. With the changes now, Mr. 2 Month basically has no chance against Mr. 6 Month.
I have 7.8 million skill points. I will pretty much go right back to the build I was before with just less availability like not being able to also be a Sniper. The person with a million skill points will burn away their points and still be unable to even use a Logistics, Scout, or Assault suit.
Please look into this. I understand that player progression needed to be slowed down but the best way to lower a car's speed is with speed-humps or speed limits, not by removing the car's engine. This change also has the nasty side-effect of changing the boosters from a "Hey, I can do more things than you" to "I can do actually do something."
Be well. |
