Ahhh.
The dropship.
I'm a stubborn capricorn, and decided no matter what, I was going dropships. So, I went dropships.
Cool.
Well....yet again....wtf?
Why is it every time you "tweak" dropship controls, it goes from 1 to 11? These things have very weird and cumbersome mass, I don't even know what happened to the camera, something is definitely different. They feel even less responsive, and are much more difficult to maneuver, when it was already fairly difficult. There is hardly any upward thrust unless you tilt the ship almost completely backwards, and the camera just feels weird somehow as you try to pull up and the ship practically flips over, yet basically stays in place. You have to move very slow and are very easy pickings for rail guns.
I like how you buffed the CPU / PG of the Logistics dropships, thank you very much for that. The bonus to the Gallente logistics ship is ok I guess, though you'd think a reduction to PG would make more sense with armor.
I guess I'm skilling up to the Assault dropship because I literally have no idea what inspired you to do whatever it is that you did to the logistics dropship (at least gallente, with and without armor plates). I'm just hoping that by "more responsive" you mean the Assault dropships weren't completely screwed with, and can actually be maneuvered somewhat reasonably.
I'm going to let the prices and the vehicle shield extender bug slide since it's patch day, this kind of sucks but I'm sure it will be handled shortly.
Let's not forget the fact that we still don't receive any kind of war points for doing dropship related activities, so while our buddies are on the ground in nice cheap dropsuits, raking in the kills and soaking up the glory and the ISK, we get squat in both ISK and SP, even if we live the whole match. We're stuck constantly fighting against the controls and oddball changes of dropships, every single time this game changes. It's getting very frustrating and I know I will be trolled for this, but that's fine. I'm just disgusted with the lack of attention to dropships as a whole, I'm really hoping Assaults live up to whatever justified the butchery that currently is the logistic ship (at first impression, I will continue to attempt to wrap my head around this, but this is just absurd)
Plus. Now, I like that you split the vehicle and dropsuit skills. That's cool. What isn't cool, is that I can't do what I'm specialized to do because there is no freaking support for it from this game. Every time, it gets harder and harder to do one of the most difficult and least rewarding tasks in this game. I chose to fly a dropship because they were fun to fly, and I could support my team by helping them relocate quickly.
Don't get me wrong. I'm mad bro, but I get it; I went into this knowing that I wouldn't be getting compensated for my work. I just thought you'd keep at least one of my legs intact, since you already broke one of my arms, and the crutches are over there on the table....

This is just sad. They have to care about the DS one way or another, otherwise they wouldn't keep breaking it, but jeez you'd think 'give some damn reward' would've been an easy enough bill to fill for... three builds now? |

Now I know that was a wall of rage, but it's not like they're literally unpilotable. It's just feels like it's even more difficult, and not getting rewarded is going to kill off whatever is left of this profession.
Please make this someones priority, something needs to be addressed here. I will start researching what other games have done and see if I can't come up with some ideas, I know plenty have been thrown around here on the forums as well, but I will attempt to add something constructive to the mix, and bring some light to some that may have been forgotten. I just know that something needs to be done, other than continuously making things more difficult for dropship pilots, a fairly rare breed in the EVE universe as is. |

So I started using the assault DS, it's ridiculously hard to aim the turret. And acceleration needs tweaking things goes way to fast with the slightest nudge. |

Idea for camera : Let us choose if we want to reset or not the up/down aim, it would be really easier to aim. |

18,760 ISK and 4,852 SP for a skirmish where I did pretty good for a dropship.
Working as intended. |

I don't know if they messed with the camera or what but the drop ship handles like a wet smelly old fat dog. I haven't tried the assault ships yet but looking to master them in MLT form first before specing into them. |

I dont really see what all the griping is about. dropship pilots havent gotten payed since open beta, i can understand thats frustrating however with good gunners and support from the ground dropships become one of the most useful tools in this game. I spent a good 3mil SP to get into my assault dropship today, and i am not disappointed. The only thing i think it could use is a little more shield (i fly caldari) as the current price tag for mine is 1.2 mil and it has less shields than a myron. Otherwise its a nice ship that fits its role well. The flight controls are different but you have to understand that in the long run they are alot better. The dropship is much more maneuverable and can accelerate much faster due to the engines finally being able to thrust behind you, i think that all of us pilots can agree that is alot better than pointing your nose at the ground to go forward quickly! Sure it might be difficult to get use to, i know i was having some trouble my first few games. It took me back to the first time i tried to fly a dropship (crashed into a building 45 seconds in) I had a good chuckle and started to practice flying again like i did when i was first learning to fly. Infact the only thing that i really have a problem with is the camera, the larger field of view is nice and we did need it, however it is really disorienting sometimes. I know that i am going to get use to this but i wouldnt mind having an option to have the camera closer like in the old build. Logi dropships are not meant to be fighting, thats why there is logi and assault. Im sure you can figure out what role the LOGI dropship is meant to be used for :) Dedicated Pilots are a rare breed in this universe. Its up to us to assist CCP into building a dropship thats fun, useful, and rewarding to both pilots and ground troops. Most of what you have said in this thread is just moaning and carrying on and not understanding why they did what they did. Pilots mostly fly because they love flying or they love dropships, please help us to give good feedback and discussion to CCP's ears and eyes, not just Well yet again.....WTF. |
