Seriously. Not kidding for once.
I'm not sure if it is the more vibrant colors and upgraded visuals or if something is wonky and different with the X/Y movement now, but after a couple of sessions with the (greatly) new and improved Dust 514, I've got a major case of motion sickness. FPSs in general have this effect on me, but for some reason the beta of Dust never brought these symptoms on.
Anyone else suffer from this or have ideas as to the cause? (Yes, I've fiddled with the sensitivity and brightness controls.) |

35. No neurolgical problems. 60 inch HDTV in a very large room. This isn't anything new in general with me. I've never been able to play Halo, Left 4 Dead or Call of Duty/Battlefield games because of this issue. Borderlands and Quake (from way back when) are the only other FPS games that have never brought this on. I thought Dust would as well when I first tried it earlier this year, but to my delight it did not. |

Mmmm ok maybe lower down the backlight and brightness. Also since it's a very large TV try to sit far away.

Out of curiosity, have you ever stuck it out?
I'm thinking along the lines of getting your sea legs on a boat. typically, your inner ear will begin to compensate with exposure and you aren't affected by motion anymore.
The worst part about that is getting back to land legs. Nothing like being on dry land with the world sea sawing. |

I know there's no good way to make a comparison now, but do you think maybe they changed the Field of View?
I find that weird (usually too narrow) FOVs can cause simulation sickness for me in games. Now I'm kinda dreading playing the new build. I hope I don't ralph. |

You might have Vertigo (not the fear of heights but imbalance in equilibruim). Do you get coughs and colds/congestion often? If so go talk to a doctor about it. There are simple 5 minute exercise you can perform to overcome this. |

Before the update Dust was one of very few FP games that did not make me ill after playing a while. I've always assumed it was due to camera motion or FOV affecting the way things at various places/distances seem to move. I'm just guessing though, never figured out for sure what it is. |

To be honest I feel kind of the same, though not full blown motion sickness. It's almost like it's....too crisp? But not? I don't know, I haven't played much yet so I'll have to wait and see. Hope you figure it out man, that sucks. |

There are some irritating issues with this build: - Narrowed field of view. Now I know what horses with blinkers feel like. - Turning acceleration. This is noticeable if you turn sensitivity way down: If you keep your right stick at the same position the turn rate goes up where usually it stays constant. This is less prominent at higher sensitivity settings but it's still there. |

What do coughs have to do with this? I do have allergies and suffer from a chronic cough. I actually have been to the doctor over both these issues. He told me to get allergy shots and basically that "motion sickness happens." What exercises are you talking about?
In response to a couple of the other posts, the TV is plasma. No backlight, no TruMotion. |

Well guess you cant/wont switch to a smaller screen, so all I can say is turn down the brightness mate, it will help, atleast a abit. |

It's the lighting definitely. The lighting system will probably make you nauseous it wasn't in properly in any of the older builds. Either that or the resolution, try playing at 720 p or less. |

My best guess on what's affecting you is that CCP has added something I've asked for in the past - rotation acceleration.
Notice how now when you push the right stick you rotate slow at first and then quickly pick up speed. This rate of rotation we see on the screen is now non-linear, whereas in Chromosome it was linear. What we gain from this is aiming is not as twitchy. I'm personally finding this build a lot easier to adapt to than Chromosome was.
A couple of suggestions for you. Long range sniper should limit how much you use rotation acceleration. Forge gun, swarms from long range too.
Maybe the heavy suit rotates and accelerates slower, haven't tested it yet. Maybe vehicles would work the same way.
And the last idea is the most painful one - if you play enough your muscle memory should adapt to the controls, and your brain will be anticipating the rotation acceleration. Maybe this will lessen the motion sickness. Just a guess and i really don't know anything about the subject, just throwing it out there in case it might help. I'd expect a few hundred hours would be required for the muscle memory/brain thingy to start to gel. |

This is less prominent at higher sensitivity settings but it's still there. Also, in close quarters with enemies, auto-aim off seems to mean there's a negative auto-aim that throws your viewpoint wildly away from the target when you try to turn slightly. Might be an acceleration glitch, or something else, and I haven't (yet) tested with auto-aim turned on. |

They narrowed the field of view (presumably for performance), which is contributing heavily to motion sickness while I play. Did fine on earlier builds. Today? Barely managed to play until the match server I was on crashed. |
