Exactly.
There is know way I know of too get you're User Data back after deleting it.
And deleting you're User Data is the last thing you want to delete.

edit: this is the best way to update because it wont leave behind unused data to fragment your harddisk
Why in he Hell would anyone do that? What about every other game that we have on our system? I hate to say it but I think you better put the crack pipe down! |

Excellent! I'l make sure to do this!
I was just wondering how exactly to go about it, already deciding to delete and re-install (just in case it really does help out with space and performance), but I didn't know this. I most certainly would've been doin' it wrong. |

I was expecting it to say, "Do not trust someone who's name is a random alpha-numeric string."
That being said, don't trust someone who's name is a random alpha-numeric string. |

No need to troll my post. Went to BB to get my new PS3 and decided to buy a second PS3. The second new PS3 I will use to follow the instructions posted. Also, the friendly sales rep suggested I buy Monster brand HDMI cables. I explained I had monoprice cables, but he convinced me that I would experience quality degradation without his suggested cables. So I bought 3 of them. $90 each was not too bad.
So, in summary, I have 3 PS3s. 1) upgrade Chromosome to Uprising, 2) upgrade to Uprising after following suggested steps, and 3) new PS3 with fresh uprising install.
Will post results on best method tomorrow. |

there is nothing wrong with what the OP has said to do. all data is saved server side, when you delete the save data it only resets your options in game, sensitivity, sfx, mic and ptt, etc.
and for anyone scared of the other options, https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=257720#post257720
also about not deleting the client and redownloading, you very well may use less data as new client builds are more efficient, such as this next big update |

and here is a quote from it,
"3. Restore File System - Attempts to repair all areas on the hard disk drive where files can be saved. Corrupted data may be erased if it cannot be recovered.
4. Rebuild Database - Deletes messages, playlists, changes made on [Information] screens, trimming information for pictures in [Photo], video thumbnails, video playback history and video resume information. This operation may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items." |

I have an advanced repair tool, fragmentation is NOT an option. Glue it back together the Minmatar way.
Sorry : Duct tape it back together. |
