As someone who runs Shotgun Scout and other more "lone wolf" roles a lot in the game, I love DUST's focus on teamplay. It allows for a lone-wolf player to do well, but only if they're willing to take advantage of teammates where practical. I love when I'm losing a Shotgun duel and a friendly Sniper saves me. I love when a large group of blueberries is being pinned down by a coordinated squad of Heavies and Assaults, and I manage to appear behind them with a Shotgun and clear a path. I love when I decide to run Logi and realise a friendly Shotgunner is moving to flank, but there's that one guy - there's always one - who looked over and saw him, and I manage to give him a more immediate threat to worry about, then his teammates all drop to our Shotgunner while he's busy with "that idiot Logi who thinks his SMG will hurt from 30m away". Yeah, killing you wasn't my real goal. You're welcome, friendly Scout. |

Go play Ghost Recon Future Soldier if you want "Team - Based, Objective Oriented" gameplay Go play cod if you want "1v1" gameplay, see everyone can do it and it gets us nowhere, so lets not do it. Go play Ambush and talk to me about "Team - Based, Objetive Oriented" gameplay. Rec the video please. You mean the mode where a coordinated group of players using flanking tactics and working together can almost always dominate against unfocused lone-wolf play on the other team?
That Ambush mode?
Good way to support the guy you were quoting. I hope that was your intent. |

Use your brain men. Ambush is a joke for "team gameplay".
Good way to support a bad game mode. More often than not, BOTH teams in Ambush are full of players lone-wolfing, and a good player tips the balance.
When one team has good lone-wolfing players, and the other team has better coordination, the organised team using good teamwork will end up winning in spite of a couple of guys on the other team going positive by a larger margin than anyone on the winning side. |

Really? I find it's usually filled with both sides on opposite ends of the map with LRs, ARs, and SRs. The team with the most filled out squads usually comes out on top, indicating some teamwork. I don't really believe it's a lot though. Most squads, when present, are usually corps, corps with the skill and equipment necessary to actually be successful in corp activities, so they're usually overkill for Ambush's less stacked side. You can have all the teamwork in the world, but it will do you no good when you get taken out within 3 seconds of receiving fire from a single dude. I learned fairly quickly to say "Nope" when I see that the enemy team consists of a few imperfects, STB, Zions and a couple of no corp affiliated people while my own is listed as the generic names. It never ended well back when I was always put into an on-going game and i'd like to have fun while grinding my SP. If there's only one guy who is a good lone-wolf, then yeah, they're going to lose. At about three though, victory odds are fairly good if your own team doesn't have any lone-wolves for counters. Ambush on Manus Peak: Most - not all - players running Laser/AR/Sniper Rifle. These players are almost all lone-wolfing, even if they're doing so in a big cluster. A couple of Logis focusing on repairs and resupply can turn a pubstomp into a close match - I've done it before in Militia gear. More than once. Spawn in and set Uplinks and Nanohives in a good position, subtly "encouraging" your teammates to stick together in a relatively safe position, then rush the enemy, maybe get a kill if I'm lucky before going down, but probably not. Respawn with Repair Tool and more Nanohives. Enemy team now has a wall of infinitely-resupplied attackers who are regenerating constantly from damage, and if I'm backed up by a competent Logi or "Triage" Assault, half the kills are being thrown away when the victim gets right back up without a clone lost.
Quote:As for Shield Transporters OP. I wouldn't mind them blocking enemy orbitals, so long as it isn't something they can instantly pop up as soon as they hear the siren/horn thing. Give it an animation or warm up time or something. I'm pretty sure Shield Transporters are like Repair Tools for shields, not the deployables we're talking about here. I agree on the deployable shield being something that needs to be non-instant though. If you know there's a good chance of an Orbital on your position, place the shield and let your squad know it's there. If the Orbital is dropped, you can quickly back up under your bubble and wait out the storm. if not, you have an option to back up into cover when enemy snipers start aiming your way. Pop out, take a few shots, back up into the "cover" - you can't shoot out, but nobody can shoot in either. |
