I am sure that this suggestion will split opinion but it has been bouncing around in my head for a while... so...
Snipers. Love them or hate them they are here to stay. However in all the matches I have played (in and out of squads) I noticed that they don't really get involved. There is the odd call of "his behind you" but nothing more then that. So I was thinking if there was a way to make snipers of more use other then just taking down from range. So I came up with the following.
What if Snipers could fire something other then bullets ? In my mind I am thinking of the following
- A beacon that when fired lights up a target. So you could tag say an annoying heavy or a sneaky Sniper, or failing that mark an area of interest (sort of like a squad command but only short lived)
- A ECM that when fires disrupts sensors around a spot (or player) for a short time to allow sneaky team mates that moment of advantage
- A scambler that when fires slows a player down for short time
The problem is that I don't think that this is a replacement for a sniper rifle, but is instead side arm if you like. This would mean that you would equip it at the cost of protection to your self. I think that the last two should give some wp, but not as much as an assist kill.
Anyway random thought... move along nothing more to see here. |

I would like something else for snipers to do. Perhaps as active modules? (when they get introduced into dropsuits) |

I do agree the role needs a additional challenge or role to play on matches. That is why i take an uplink with me when i get behind the enemy lines in the way to my nest. But if you have a shot, why would you stun when you can kill, why would you spot when you can hurt, if you see the enemy, they are spotted, so why would you not take the shot.
NOW, if we could shoot some kind of web that blocks a path for any amount of time, then we are talking. Because if you are not able to hit the enemy (they are in cover) you can block their exit. |

Acid rounds. Like Borderlands.
Blast someone, and turn them into a screaming skeleton of Alien blood.
Or shoot the ground, and make that spot a hazard spot, like standing in the bodies of "water" in this game. (What's with FPS games, and lethal water?) |
