Hey guys,
I hope you all had a good week last week and a good weekend. If you attended FanFest, thank you for coming out and I hope you had as much fun as I did! :D It was a truly amazing time and I thank you all for being part of this amazing community.
I have been so busy over the last week and a bit I have not paid any attention to the forums, twitter, or IRC and so have missed a lot.
Today is... well as the title suggests a bit of a recovery day. So while I attempt recover I would like to ask you all the following:
What did I miss? Events, forums posts, questions, stuff.
Please keep in mind that I am on team True Grit and we worked on the following for Uprising:
- Planetary Conquest
- Corp/Alliance mail/chat
- Personal/corporation wallet history
- Other small stuff
Questions outside that I can't really answer. Now is your chance to catch me up on stuff and for me to chill with you guys. |

Vyzion Eyri wrote:How long do you plan on keeping Planetary Conquest as how you've described it at the Fanfest presentation? Okay, that's not so clear. Will there be lots of minor tweaks and changes to the system after you let us see how much we can 'break' it? I was just wondering, 'cause I had the intention of creating a page on PC on wiki.dust514.info but if this upcoming version of PC is a small step or a 'test' release which could be modified depending on how we react to it, should I wait a few weeks after Uprising to start compiling information that won't be changed in the long-term?
I'm definitely not exploiting a mod thread to gain publicity for our wiki either.
:P I may have tweeted your wiki.
We will always be working to balance planetary conquest. How much and how often will depend greatly on how much is needed to get it to a stable, well balanced, and enjoyable place. |

Good to see the devs posting again.
Glad to be back to posting! :D
With Uprising you can view the 20 (I think 20, will double check the client later today as CCP Cognac did it and is not in the office, something about recovering :P ) latest wallet transactions for both your personal wallet and the corporation wallet. For the corporation wallet you will need to be the CEO or director to see them.
We want to add paging to it later so that you can go back and see more previous transaction, but that will have to come later. |

The expansion of planetary conquest in low-sec will depend greatly on how many people are participating and fighting over the planets. We know we want to see lots of fighting, but we want people to have a chance at owning a district. So when we expand it will just depend on how many people are playing it. |

It would be, it however is the best fit. I have a document around somewhere in which I describe every region in the game and give a reason why it should or should not be considered, if it is considered why it should or should not be the chosen one. Molden Heath won out. That is a LONG document. :( |

It's been totally hectic here the past week or so and some of the things we absolutely should have done by now have been missed. I apologize for that. I'm pretty sure he meant to say that PC is on the 14th. Also, I thought there was a maps devblog that has been promised for a long time that CCP LogicLoop said he put in the pipe quite a while back...?
There is indeed a map dev blog planned, I don't know what the delay on it is, but the man writing it is out of the office today. I will try and poke him tomorrow. |

Patch notes are needed, but what is completely frustrating is the lack of the list and stats on items, weapons, and suits that was promised to us.
You played enough Eve to know how theory crafting works. So go and take that knowledge and impart upon that person who is in sufficient power as to get things done, that we need that info ASAP.
Those of us with big plans, need to start planning.
I appreciate you being on to answer for your department, I just wish that more of the devs were willing to do the same for their stuff.
BTW, the PC presentation was very informative and clear, you did a great job.
Pokes have been sent.
Thank you very much, I was really conflicted about how much information to put in the presentation and how detailed to go. There were some technical difficulties which delayed the start of my presentation as well, and on top of that there was no way to tell the time while on stage. During practice my presentation went much longer so I talked a bit fast during it. Glad to hear it still came across nice and clear. :D |

What if we wind up with a miniature Blue Donut (MH is kinda donut-shaped), or even a slug fest- but only between a small number of corps/alliances? How rarified does PC have to get (how small of a number of different alliances holding districts) before we see new regions?
We will continue to balance planetary conquest to always try and upset that blue doughnut if it happens. There are lots of numbers we can try and tweak.
As for when we open up more regions, we don't have any exact metric we are looking to hit to do that. Being honest, it will be much more a see how it goes type thing. |

As a Dust CEO, it is very hard to manage our Corps without any Corp's tool. Trading asset from player to corps and corps to players, managing income and roles, all good stuff and could keep our players motivated and structured.
best, Silid
Not for uprising. Corp TAX is on the roadmap and so is corporation hangers; that being said corp TAX is on the roadmap ahead of the corp hanger. |

Absolute Idiom II wrote:Hey Foxfour, great to meet with you and drink with you at Fanfest. I still owe you 2 beers for losing that bet (you can collect them next year) and my wife was surprising cheerful that she got to talk about the pros/cons of python code!
Anyway, I have some questions, so here they are:
1) So since we can attack districts that belong to corps in our alliance. How do the OBs work in those cases, since the only rule you've told us is that anyone in the alliance can provide OBs.
Will they essentially be able to fire for both sides?
2) You mentioned during your PC talk that the loot chance to drop is 50% (just like eve). Does this apply to every suit, vehicle and everything fit on them (mods, weapons, equipment, grenades etc.) ? Because that is A LOT of loot.
How will the loot be shared amongst the mercs in battle?
:D Dude, it was lots of fun! Thank you so much for coming and hanging out in Iceland for Fanfest. Always glad to have a nice conversation about python.
1) I will have to defer to CCP Nullarbor on this on this one as he coded that, he is however not in the office today. Something about recovering. 2) :) It is indeed a LOT of loot. Enjoy. |

Citpaan Hacos wrote:Since you're working on mail I need to ask if this is or will be fixed.
With the neocom, for contacts and corp search, when you select a text box to bring up the keyboard for entry, you press X. For mail however, pressing X SENDS, which is a bit annoying if you accidentally hit it thinking it'll bring up the keyboard, and end up sending a blank message. How simple would it be to just flip what the X and Square buttons do? Or make the whole thing consistent across the game so only Square brings up the keyboard. (Though if you did that, I'd still like send be moved to a button box at the bottom of the message, or set to the triangle button instead of X.)
(Yeah, the chat screen also uses Square that way, but since X doesn't do anything there unless you have it on the lists, it's less of an issue.)
We are aware of this issue however there are no changes coming to it for Uprising. We hope to be looking at it in the future though. |

As promised for Etero Narciss, a shortened version of the internal document for choice in region.
Quote:The following regions are involved in FW so are removed:
- Devoid
- The Bleak Lands
- The Citadel
- Black Rise
- Essence
- Verge Vendor
- Placid
- Heimatar
- Metropolis
The following regions are removed because they are null sec:
- Wicked Creek
- Venal
- Vale of the Silent
- Tribute
- Tenerifis
- Tenal
- Syndicate
- Stain
- The Spire
- Scalding Pass
- Querious
- Pure Blind
- Providence
- Parrigen Falls
- Period Basis
- Paragon Soul
- Outer Ring
- Outer Passage
- Omist
- Oasa
- Malpais
- The Kalevala Expanse
- Insmother
- Impass
- Immensea
- Great Wildlands
- Geminate
- Fountain
- Fethabolis
- Fade
- Etherium Reach
- Esoteria
- Detorid
- Deklein
- Curse
- Cobalt Edge
- Cloud Ring
- Catch
- Cache
- Branch
Removed due to mostly being high security:
- Kador
- The Forge
- Everyshore
- Tash-Murkon
- Domain - Also just ungodly big.
- Lonetrek - What low security space it does have is broken up by high security
- Sing Laison
- Kor-Azor
- Derelik
- Genesis - Actually is more low security space, but it is all broken apart by high security pockets.
To many temperate planets:
- Metropolis - Double the number of worlds we wanted, half of it is high security, and it is just a REALLY large region
- Khanid
- Derelik - This was almost removed for high security space, but the low security stuff is basically all group together so it would work.
- Arridia
This left us with two regions: Comparing the two of those left us with Molden Heath for the following reasons:
- There is less high security space breaking things up; the three low security systems in Solitude shown at the bottom of the Dotlan map don't even have temperate planets.
- Molden Heath has more varying stratigic value with systems hidden away behind other systems with no temperate planets. Attrition means those will be harder to take.
- Molden heath is cleaner and easier for us to show on the new infographic map. Something to consider when it is the first and only region out the gate and the one that will be the most viewed.
- Molden Heath is also more active from the EVE side of things.
This is a shortened version of the document I have internally, but it should give you a general idea. |

When you do an attack for 1 hour after the START of the battle your corp, and only your corp, can launch another attack. That follow up attack can come from any of your districts. But what I meant though, would I be able to move say, 70 clones from one district and 70 from an adjacent one simultaneously? Also, districts are locked after battle? Can they be reinforced with clones immediately from other districts, kinda like moving pieces after a turn of Risk?
You would have to move the clones to one district first and then move them from there.
Districts are not locked after a battle. They are locked after a battle if the attacker wins the district, but they are locked because the district has a new owner.
Districts stay as under attack for one hour after a battle starts. During that time only the attacker can launch another attack. If they do this of course the district will remain as under attack after the battle. |

You chose where the pack goes, but the whole pack goes to one location. You can't split it up. |

So, provided you have the clones, you could fight back to back battles for a district to whittle down the defender?
There is at most one battle a day per district. So yes you could launch another attack, but it will be the next day. |

No, we do not currently have any plans for that. There are a whole lot of technical and design questions that need to be answered first. |

If they do this of course the district will remain as under attack after the battle. How long are battles supposed to last? Can you initiate another attack while one attack is happening? In other words, are we likely to see corp directors sitting outside of a battle until they decide whether to launch a follow-up attack, and then launching it before the current battle is finished?
You can launch another attack while the first is happening yes, again it won't happen until the next day though. Unless no one captures any null cannons for the entire match you should have plenty of time to launch an attack after the battles ends.
I am going to head home for the day though and I have the next two days off. So take care guys and I will talk to you later. Thanks for an awesome Fanfest and amazing thread helping me recover today. :) |
