When the Dust 514 Beta first started, I actually bought a PS3 just to be able to play it. However, for whatever reason, Dust 514 just did not grab me at first. I believe this is mostly based on my play style. I just did not feel comfortable playing Dust, mostly because I had no idea what I was doingGǪ which frustrates the hell out of me playing any game. I also was not comfortable with the PS3 Keypad. After Dust included a keyboard and mouse, that helped out a littleGǪ but I was still uneasy. So I shelved Dust, waiting for the game to mature a bit more and then return to see how it had evolved later. After having a run at Guild Wars 2 and Planetside 2 in the mean time, I decided to come back to Dust 514 to give it another whirl at this time. With Dust going live soon, I figured it was a good time to return.
One of my big mistakes the first time through was not finding a good Corp to work with. I am hoping to correct that issue this time through.
I am an older player, semi-retired, with 50 years of some sort of war gaming experience. I live on the East Coast of the US and play mostly during the day and early evenings. I also have been playing Eve Online now for 5 years. I have established an independent manufacturing corp in Gallentean space that produces Frigates, Destroyers, Transports, and Gallentean and Minmatar CruisersGǪ both T1 and T2 versions. I have done fairly well for myself in Eve online financially, so I do have a firm base there. I am looking forward to producing equipment for Dust Players as soon as the blueprints become available.
As for FPSGÇÖers, I have played CoD (most of the versions), BF 2 & 3, and recently Planetside 2. I do not consider myself to be a GÇÿrun and gunnerGÇÖ, but more of a 2nd line support type. I have not really found my niche in Dust yet, so I am still open to figuring that out. I am hoping that by reading some of the Dust 514 Guides here and working with knowledgeable Dust Players, that I will be able to head in the right direction.
Since most of what I do in Eve Online involves Gallentean space, I would be looking for a Corp that operates mostly in that area. So if anyone has an opening and wants to give this grumpy old man a shot, then please give note in game. Once I find a good fit, I will be a good Corp asset.

If you're interested in a freelance, non-alliance, teamwork-oriented corp that will be selling our services to the highest bidder, we might be a fit for you; Militaires-Sans-Frontieres. We require mics, and expect our people to follow SL orders. We are not casual. Training is available if you need help learning the game, and once the PC (Planetary Conquest) game comes up, we will be taking enough districts to keep us self-sufficient, with most equipment at cost for corporation members. K/D only matters in that we need to kill our enemy to win, but it is attitude -and more importantly, mindset- that matters.
Our website is here. If you have questions or concerns, just mail me in game, or at my PSN name; Adanu. I am the recruitment and training head for the MSF. If you send in an application, please give a brief summary of yourself to make it easier to tell you apart from others, and be aware we require an application through our website (can be found in the recruitment thread link) for information purposes.
Our public channel is MSF Pub, Feel free to just hop in and see if any MSF personnel have squad slots open and see how we run. If you're interested in information first hand, just wait for me to pop in and poke me via mail or chat; I'll be happy to talk with you. |

The Star Born might be the corp for you. We're a fairly laid back group and our only requirement is that you are active (a couple time a week). We're not a very large corp however we usually have people on throughout the day. I dare say we're a good corp to work with because we value teamwork above all else; and if you meant in terms of killing we were ranked 154th out of 1000 last time I checked so at the very least we're better than most.
We don't have a website or forum.
Regardless of which corp you decide to join feel free to join our open channel *TSB* we're always looking for team oriented players to squad up with. |

Im an EVE player too albiet a new one.
Dead Six is always looking for new members, and you sound like a huge asset to us.
While we are a Caldari Loyalist corp for RP purposes we don't enforce any specific rules or demands you play your game in a certain way so you shall never fear us saying something stupid like "oh you run Gallente ships and missions? Not any more you don't:.
We are a 130 strong as of now with players in all timzones across the world, we are a hugely social group with a newfound focus on improving ourselves and our tactics all of which are coming along very nicely.
I suggest you stop by our Public channel before making a choice as to which corp you join.
Now Im not trying to sound like im Poaching here but Dead Six does run occasional simul Ques with The Generals so if you find that they are not what you are looking for, or consequently we are not what you are looking for then my advice would be the try the other corp out since both groups have a great band of players.
If you want to know more hit me up DUST side with a mail, or EVE side where my Character name is Avrik Tyrhannos. |

A little more info on me...
My other online game that I have played since beta is The World of Tanks. I will, periodically, be playing there as well. I am not in a clan there at the moment, but may be if one comes along.
I consider myself a casual player, though I am online quite often. I say this because I do not consider gaming my life, though I really enjoy it. I am also an old school gamer that wants to study and understand the game that I am playing... so expect me to be doing that as well. I am an average FPS player until I find out what I do best. Then I would say that my play and asset to the group I am with dramatically improves. I play much better with people I know then with just pickup groups. Once I develop a level of trust going both ways, things can only get better.
Dust is the only PS3 game I play. I have been a PC gamer since 1985 and online gamer since 2001.

I want to thank everyone for their replies and offers. I am going to take my time here, as the last few organizations I have been in has not always lead to a good experience. I recently had one TS chat turn into an argument over the existence of God and his true purpose. I had another one where the members were doing their Beevus and Butthead impersonations back in the rear base, while I was trying to hold onto a base solo. I have also had a organization leader decide to view his very racist ideas on a forum that got him banned for life. So I am going to do my best to make sure that any organization I join is going to be right for all concerned and as long term as possible. After being in a group for only a short time, I usually know if things are working out and if there is a match.
Again, thank you all for your time and consideration. |

Nice resume!
Red Guard is always recruiting talented players who have a focus and mindset as to their Merc setup. We're proud members of the EoN Alliance and will work to spec you down into a competitive division. We especially love veteran FPS players since it lessens the load on our need to familiarize players with the nuances of the genre.

Greetings sir!!
our corp is recruiting, it a UK based corp with players from the UK, US, ASIA and SOUTH AFRICA, our prime time is usually around 5pm GMT, im guessing that would be during the day for you? If you are not interested in a UK based corp then please ignore this post, if you dont mind a UK corp then please continue reading on.
our corp doesnt ask much from players, just that they have a good sense of humor, a mature personality, a mic (important) and above all else have fun and enjoy dust 514. you say you're a man in his fifties?? well if you do join us that would make you the oldest member in our corp followed by our 40 year old member hahaha most of our members are in their late 20's and above with a few players just in their early 20's but we're all mature enough so you dont have to worry about immature things happening.
im happy to say that 95% of our members are Gallentean and that our corp will be operating from Gallentean space. And we'd be happy to give you a shot
to join our corp search for us via the NEOCOM > search corp > ..DIE to join our chat channel and try out our corp before deciding. corp channel: Dest.Init.Entp

I have been online now for 16 years. I guess I have seen the best and the worst of online players, one way or another. Perhaps the worst I have seen was someone who faked their death offline, just so they could watch their friends online mourn for them. They then announced it was a joke. No one really thought it was funny. However, people soon forgot and they were back in the group. Oh well [grins]

Looking for corps in just the Gallente space will keep you limited on the corps you can choose. If you change your mind about location join the "Red Star Associates." public channel and squad up with the boys. |

I appreciate the council and fully understand what you are saying is very true. However, my situation in being involved in Gallentean space as well as being heavily involved with Planetary Materials in Eve Online, kind of leans me towards trying to stay closer to the Gallentean faction of things as much as possibleGǪ even if it is only in my own mind.
I realize that Dust is different than Eve Online when it comes to Character Standings. I also realize that Dust Characters are independent mercenaries who could give a ratGÇÖs butt less who is paying for their servicesGǪ just as long as they get paid. I believe that to be the Dust game design concept from day one. However, I do have a long term connection to Eve Online, so I would feel more comfortable sticking close to Gallentean space. Will it make a difference base on Dust game designGǪ probably not. Will I end up taking contracts to work against Gallentean interestsGǪ probably so. But as long as I believe I have a choice, then I will stick close to one side. I believe where this will come more into play is in Factional Warfare.. which I do not know how much I will be involved with, but we will see.
As time goes on and I grow up more as a Dust Character, perhaps my mindset will change. Again, we will see. |
