You can find it here on youtube (just the relevant part) if like me your computer can't do 1080p without lagging the video.
ALM1GHTY STATIUS, if you watch the video you will see him go prone and fire a shot. |

No, the character is shooting from prone position, you can see it in the video . The Screenshot could look a little misleading

NO. The only people that want prone are snipers. Who want the small chance that they can be counter sniped, reduced to no chance of retaliation. |

Couldn't agree more, xp3ll3d. Prone is for games with Sniper Bullet drop and no head glitching. The prone option would be horrible.
Besides, unless the terrain is actually completely revamped we would be seeing a lot of floating prone soldiers who are on the edge of the terrain block and it would look ridiculous. |

to be honest this is probably simply for the situation of a cinematic trailer and is not a confirmation of anything. |

Not true at all. Prone has countless iterations, it also doubles as a way to use cover/hide in addition to the most stable firing position. No serious player wants to see drop-shotting or unhittable snipers but thats any easy fix.
Slow the animation down when people lay down/get up from prone and it can't be used for any silly shenanigans.Trying to use it in combat will be like trying to climb a ladder in a firefight. |

You'd be surprised how useful prone really is, ask the KEQ/V-C boys for ideas about it .I do hope either, it consumes some stamina,, not much though since I think heavies would really benefic from it and/or a little movespeed "slug" from 0.65s to 1.25s after rising up. |

I'd actually like Prone when I'm running around on Skirmish, those little mounds are perfect for hiding behind, if I could actually go prone instead of crouching and getting my head shot at :/ |

Google the word prone then come back in here and edit your post to admit you don't have a clue what you're talking about. |

I really don't see prone being viable in a game with the type of play DUST is focused on.
There really is no way that any game developer so far has found to make it work without either being exploitable or slowing the pace of the game. Sometimes both.
DUST gameplay on an individual level is relatively fast-paced, but there's a slower-paced squad/team perspective which would bog down uncomfortably if the core gameplay was slower, and prone would cause exactly that.
And we already have head-glitching, terrain glitches, and occasionally hitbox glitches bad enough that TANKS can be immune to damage without being in cover.
I'm not against prone in multiplayer shooters, but it would take an innovative approach to the concept for it to be anything but a liability in DUST. |

disagree completely. you can say the same thing about quickscoping but you cant do that in this game.
balanced prone wont do anything but allow for more accurate game or hiding in a very vulnerable position. |

Its not a bad mechanism, it doesn't break any game I know of, except in CoD the ridiculous dropshotting. But Prone makes sense as long as it takes a second or two to get down. Concealment is often key to survival, I know it would be a lot better for scouts to use to sneak up close or get the drop on someone walking by if they can prone behind a small hill or box.
Homestly the reasons against it are kind of silly if given any thought. MAG had long sightlines and prone didnt ruin it because of snipers or dropshotting. BF3 same, etc. etc. |

Im talking around like a 12% of a regular assault without speccing into it. around 15% for a heavy, not that much. the reason for it is a tempo thing. |

I noticed that too, VirtualxBucaneer. Very interesting.
My memory tells me that the DUST devs have metioned in the past that they could put prone in the game and it will be looked at at some unspecified point in the future,
Iirc, the same thing was said recently about vaulting too.
If we want these things we've gotta let CCP know. |
