Planning on specing into logi for uprising and just wanted to know how does it feel to not have a sidearm when caught in a close quarter fight? Also being a heavy would you prefer to have an assault logi by your side to take out enemies with you or a logibro repping you constantly? |

If Your Sticking close to your squad to provide logi support direct take an SMG - Nice for up close work. If your squad is Not going toe to toe with the other side use an Assault rifle, not having a side arm is something you get used to really fast. |

I like my Logis to have LR's or MD's. MD's have a nice ability to disperse the enemy, and LR's keep them safe and in cover. I'm a shield tanked heavy, so I have like 450 shields. If I go into armor, I have the logi top me off, but I usually don't need them. I like to keep them around just in case, and for ammo. Always need ammo. |

I'd advise several different fits, which you can vary depending on the circumstances.
If you're with an armor heavy, keep your repper on him at all times. An armor-tanked heavy with a logi repping him will beat a shield-tanked heavy almost every time. If you're with an armor heavy, your weapons are really only going to be out if your heavy goes down, so keep a short-range weapon on hand (AR or SMG). Fortunately you'll get those sweet "Guardian" bonuses if your heavy takes fire while you're repping him.
If you're with a shield heavy, chances are pretty good you'll only be topping him off most of the time, or when he's up against a multitude. If this is the case, your weapon will depend on the map. On something like Manus Peak, with its open spaces, will probably benefit most from laser rifle support to kill and suppress enemies that are out of your heavy's range, so that he can get close enough to take them out. With something like Skim Junction, where a lot of the contested space tends to be close-quarters, suppressing fire will be more effective with a mass driver.
Obviously you can't specialize in four different weapons and be effective with all of them. Just consider the people you run with most often, and what you're most likely to use or need. And also consider that you don't need high-level weapons to make an impact. If you're a logi, killing isn't your primary purpose anyway. |

As a heavy I would prefer an assault type logi, that extra firepower is needed to guard me while reloading and to cover my back. Have experienced several times where I am flanked and getting shot down and as I fall I see the logi being shot at and still holding the rep tool. I very much appreciate being repped but sometime one HMG is not enough to keep the reds back.
This one is really difficult, because the logi will earn warpoints healing me as I shoot the reds, and this is good for the team but sometimes the extra firepower is needed to avoid being run over.
Select something that you also find fun, in a squad a pure logi will be valuable and can earn lots and lots of warpoints for the team. When not in a squad go for the assault oriented logi. It is easier in a squad to communicate, help each other, protect the logi etc.
When I am not in a squad, I try not to depend on the logi as I often suddenly find myself alone where the logi who just healed me had run off to heal others. Or just got tired of healing my armor which takes time with a militia rep tool.
I wish there was a way in game to show my appreciation of the logi who is healing me, providing ammo for me and revive me when I fall down.

In regards to logi it really comes down to your comfort level and what works best. I started off as an MD logi, but recently I switched to a LR Logi and now I run AR (which to me is the best of the 3 for a logibro, but that is just my opinion. MD comes in a close second, with LR last). I've been both a full support logi as well as a combat logi, and from what I've seen it just takes time to determine what you are best at. What makes the logi so amazing is its versatility, you can play it so many different ways and evolve based on the current combat situation.
Going back to the topic of weapons, I would suggest trying out all of them, as each weapon has some negatives when put on a logi. As you pointed out, the logi doesn't have a sidearm, as such running a LR logi becomes somewhat tricky especially when dealing with CQC. However, the LR is a great crowd control weapon (as well as a killing machine) as you can force the opponent into a corner, allowing you to not only get to your injured teammates but also allow the rest of the squad/team push forward.
The MD is very similar in that you can create cover (the MD shells produce smoke. Tip: use the EC-3 or boundless as the increased blast radius creates more smoke) as well as help take out injured enemies. However, the slow rate of fire, small amount of ammo and the potential to kill yourself makes the MD a tricky weapon (further, when dealing with CQC, you need to account for the change in arc as well as the movement of your opponent; Also, if you use the MD, don't be a scrub and spam shells at your enemy without thought or accuracy, spend sometime to figure out how the arcs work and push yourself to achieve a direct hit on as many shots as possible).
The AR seems to be the most balanced weapon, especially where sharpshooter allows you to stay at a distance, pick off your opponents and allow you to get to your injured teammates. For me, it's fast becoming my favorite weapon as it's great for long distance shooting as well as CQC. In fact, thus far I've not really found any major negatives, unless you account for the "smallish" clip size. It just takes some practice to get used to, especially if you are coming from a different weapon.
As for the other weapons, well I've yet to try them (I wonder if a Shotty Logi or a Sniper Logi would work?)
To sum up my post/TLDR: spend time experimenting with the Logi, figure out your favorite play-style as well as the type of weapon you will be using. Also have fun with it!!

It seems like everyone says the md or lr for logi. I thought of just sticking with the ar, but you right about the small clipsize. I can't count how many times my toxin saved me in cqc. I wish I had an infinite supply of the krin.

That would be awesome...if you are comfortable with the AR then I would stick with it, as I've found the most successful mercs are the ones who run a fit they like and are comfortable with. However, I'd create a few cheap fits that have both the MD and LR to play around with especially where we have the reset coming up.
Good luck and have fun! Also welcome to the logibro club :)
