Like for example a corp that specializes in mining and selling raw materials. Corps that focus on research, guns, vehicles, aircraft, etc. I would proudly fight for a corp that focuses on research and the manufacture of railguns. I mean that's what corps do right.

 Hopefully.

Eve has a robust industrial game, hopefully Dust will as well.

I feel like dust will be indirectly involved. Maybe we would fight over production facilities or raw materials. I doubt we will actually be making the items ourselves though

I can see light crafting and purchasing materials to manufacture items but not actual rock shooting. Industrial missions would involve things like convoy protection, holding off drones while mining drones mine and district taking for the mineral deposits. I don't think we will ever get to mine with a forge gun, it would be boring but cool to do a few times.

I'm good with the "armed meatbag" characterization. Let the industrialization of a planet occur on EVE's end. We'll just insure the stability of their operations to insure proper pay from our employers.

Works for me, but I would like to see some type dust player crafting items. FPS are fun but we need a really big sandbox.

I would prefer not to blend two much of the games together, EVE has the industry side locked down. No need to tread on toes, if you want togo care bearing then off to EVE with you!

Weapons construction, vehicle customization, that kind of stuff...
Leave the Farmville stuff for the Android app.

The presence of aurum items says no. It's probably in the "possible expansions" category, tech2 ground weaponry made from district industry, prehaps(tm)

There has been some talk, at least as far back as the Seeding The Universe talk at Fanfest (last year?), of tying industry to Planetary Conquest.

Right now, the only mechanic is "make clones", but they have said for awhile that they wanted to have other kinds of industrial Surface Infrastructure- mining, manufacturing, etc..

Hopefully we will see something about it when they lay out the Dust "roadmap". In the last dev videocast, they mentioned that they will be laying out at least the broad strokes of the roadmap at this year's Fanfest.

Sadly, I can't watch the keynote at work. I'm hoping that the replay is available later.

It is my hope that one day CCP gives us the ability to shred a planet for all of its value. Everything can be given a value, allow us extract that value even if it costs the planet its ecosystem. Allow us to pillage a planet of all of its natural resources for a profit.

Eventually (ideally not forever away eventually either).

This game is a fps but it is also much more, like EVE there should be lots of options on how to play. If a pilot wants to play the market, mine, explore, rat, be a rat, or scam they can and I want to see DUST take the same road. I like the thought of New Eden being my playground and some days I just want to shoot rocks, let me do it in space or on a planet. Fps mechanics, balance and polish is needed first so all the industrial talk is long term speculation because drones need to happen before any other side jobs.
