I am calling it right now.
At the 43:50 mark in this video it is stated that we will be getting some thing for free now that we are all going to be happy about.

So what does a UVT do?
It allows Voice Chat in Corp (not Local) and any other player created channels such as Chat.D-UNI. And thats all.
Why have it?
Well, why type if you can speak? It's a matter of personal taste to buy a UVT and it has no impact on your ability to play should you not do so.
You'll notice at the top of the chat channels a box with UVT in it. If you purchased one, here is where you'll see when its due to run out. UVT's have a time limited use.

I don't think CCP will freely give out such a goodie that they can make good money with.
Maybe it will be more like a permenant pink jumpsuit, or something like that. |

True but as Recon has noted in a different post. It would be better for them to use a different method to pay for this feature. |

With PC ( Planetary Conquest) UVT's are going to be very necessary in order for Corps to organize and succeed.
If Corp members are being forced to pay for something just to communicate then you start to lose members.
If you start losing members you start losing corps.
Start losing corps then DUST 514 fails.
If DUST 514 fails over a simple UVT well that is just sad.
Free UVT's = Corps staying organized and successful in PC and start bringing in more people
More people playing = more people paying for other AUR items like boosters which are 100% profit for CCP.
