Here is an idea for discouraging redline snipers. Track the time one spends at the redline and penalize them at the end of the match (ISK and SP). To keep it simple, let's assume this is a redline sniper that plays a round of Skirmish from start to finish.
1) The Devs designate a "coward zone" to each map. For example, from team's end of the map to 200m from the first nearest objective. This area is not designated on the map.
2) Each player has their time in the dead zone tracked. This time is measured as a percentage of the overall time length of the match.
3) At the end of the round, players who spend a disproportionate amount of time in the coward zone get penalized in terms of SP and ISK. Whatever they lose gets awarded to the teammates who spend more time outside of the coward zone.
I recognize that sometimes, one needs to fight in the coward zone (e.g. a berserk opponent decides to go rambo on the opposing team's spawn points, you gotta chase them down). However, it's highly unlikely that this will happen much or for very long.
Perhaps the penalty and reallocation can be tiered so that a person who spends 80% of the match in the coward zone gets 10% of their share. One who spends 50-80% of the match in the coward zone gets 25%. Anyone who spends more than 50% of the match outside of the coward zone gets full pop. Not only does this create a disincentive for redline snipers, but also discourages AFK farming. (I just made up the tiers, the Devs can figure out what's appropriate.)
I thought of other ideas such as more obstructions or pushing redline sniping positions back more than 600m but realized that it cuts down on the terrain options and makes things less fun.
The core problem is that there are people spending too much time in the rear with the gear. Don't ruin their playing style. Let them do that but don't reward them for uncompetitive, uncooperative and un-fun playing. |

I have a far simpler solution.
Counter snipe. It's free kills.

Lol. What's wrong with red line sniping?
This is a response to a team being redlined. I don't see why the winning team should be padding kdr just because there's no where for players on the losing team to play without being farmed.
Implementing a stupid idea like this would just result in the losing team members just hanging out in the mcc.
Bad idea. Has no merit. |

Bad idea. Has no merit. dude pick any map, any at all and then tell me that there is no where that the enemy could go to cover that spot to control spawns. i bet you that you can't find a single map. the red line only prevents a shotgun spawn camper, some many prevent ARs thus forcing a lot of MCC hanging from the red lined team |

The only reason everyone hates redline snipers is because they contribute no support to their team an annoy the f*ck out of the other team. Mix that with head glitching and you have unstoppable, unskilled noobs. |

The role of any sniper anywhere is to remove resources from the opposing side. Be that materiel or personnel. Doing that from a safe position is the another part of the definition as getting killed defeats the purpose.
Because you don't like a situation or how other players play doesn't make you 'da master bater' at all. Just another random New Berry that got their head popped from someone they weren't skilled enough to counter snipe. QQ on little Kitten, QQ on.
And for those that have not been around note that the Red Line is different between the Reds and the Blues. This is to promote what the Kitten here doesn't want; safe zones and to reduce spawn camping on the opposing side. Technically is a really sweet idea, BTW. Just a few locations and a line is drawn that limits one side to a specific area. It is incredibly easy to change and play test. We know because we have watched them move over time. |

Every SINGLE TIME.. the blueberries that fuk with me when I am sniping are always neg KDR. Always. The good players are doing their own damage to the enemy. The suck players start to blame their own team.
