when i say "tank" it means primary defense(shield, armor, speed ect.) not HAV
Amarr & gallente = armor tanks caldari & minmatar = shield tanks (at least in EvE... minmatar is sorta dps)
the 2 armor tanks currently available are the gallente scout suit and Amarr heavy suit. the heavy suit has too big an armor tank to effectively judge the ability of an armor rep and very few people use scout suits so I'm really not surprised by the lack of shield/armor balance. though armor has higher ehp and resists it is still all but useless on dropsuits because the armor rep rate is so low. the resists and hitpoints don't make up for the fact that it takes easily 5 times long to regenerate them. passive shield regeneration doesn't take a up valuable low slot or any PG/CPU and it's quick regeneration more than makes up for it's frailness. so why would anyone choose armor?
i really hope this is fixed in uprising, with the introduction of new suits for each race it'll be really interesting if it's not.
my solution is to buff armor reps, your thoughts, ideas, suggestions? |

Well, from what I understand, the heavy dropsuit can act as either a shield tank or an armor tank, depending on the type of suit. I agree for the most part with your views on how the shield tank seems superior "and likely is due to increased movement speed on top of better regen and resistance to explosions", however, armor tanks can benefit more from running around with support at his back healing him.
My point of view on the matter is that shield tanking is for soloing whereas a well supported armor tank will be more troublesome to take down.
Could some adjustments be made? Probably. Should adjustments be made however? That remains to be seen after people start playing support roles more frequently. I shudder at the idea of dealing with one or two armor based heavies with two healers in the back.
Also, I've heard that the logi suit makes for an excellent shield tank too. |

I used to have a VK.0 Heavy, and has been pimped by 3 PROTO Logibros. 2 Assaults with ofc PR's wrecked us. Same thing happened with a VK.1, I shat on them. |

You'll have to excuse me, but I'm having trouble piecing together your post. You say you got destroyed by two assaults, then a VK1, then... you shat on them? What do you mean by that exactly? Vengeance? Or maybe I missinterpreted and you were actually dominating in all cases? |

Let me reword it for you, sorry:
1st encounter- me in VK.0 with 3 logis. 2 Assaults with Baalcs. me and logis got wrecked.
2nd encounter- me with VK.1, 3 logis, same guys with same suits. Shat on them.
Does this help you?

So you need two logis to make armor tanking viable? Are you people hearing yourselves? Why have an armor tank and two logis when you can have three assaults with shields and nanite injectors. |

If armor tanking is only effective with a pair of logis, then it isn't effective.
If you need to devote a fireteam to keeping a heavy alive, then it is not worth it, just remove the heavy, replace with a proto assault shield tanker and not suffer the movement penalty of tying your squad to a fat guy who can't cross the street.
I say this as an armor heavy who is well aware of his limitations.

I agree when u are so slow walking a crossed the street is a death sentence. Armor repair sucks and should be higher and i should not need a constant baby sitter to just play the game
I say increase the amount armor reps for make armor plates % based and don't have a movement penalty for heavys when wearing plates whats the point of being a big guy if extra armor slows u down . |

That wasn't my point; neither were. I'm saying that a Amarr Heavy Suit, buit especially for Armor tanking, failed, but then a shield one, as backwards as it is, did better. That's my point.
