We have plasma frags... why not smoke, incendiary, EMP, stunner, and flash bang? |

1: Flux is EMP, unless you want something that jams our TACNET, in which there is a OB type (in the books anyways) that not only does that, but shuts down everything but non-electrical Miminatar stuff. It would be cool if they made one that's a grenade, or incorporate it into the flux.
2:Plasma frags is on CCP's to-do list.
3: I'm not sure why smoke isn't in the game yet.
4: screw flashbangs and stun grenades. shoot the mother***er or GTFO.

Awesome, then Smoke would be a good thing.
But stun and Flash bang give you a quick tactical advantage over the person shooting you with the mass driver, as a stunner slows their movements and makes it harder to aim as it skews their vision, and flash bang, makes it impossible to see for several seconds and you can't hear where the rounds are coming from either.
Flash, Smoke, and Stun are all diversionary grenades, and are used to make a target so they lose track of their target (you) so that YOU can kill them easier.
Think CoD, BF, MW3 or any number of other FPS... players use these three grenade types to get a quick leg up on a bad situation.
An EMP grenade, would simply blow out the radar of whoever was in the cloud when it burst... much like the ones on CoD.
I know that many of you folks think comparing DUST to any other FPS and borrowing ideas from them would be sacrilegious but...
... the fact of the matter is this...
... this is a First Person Shooter, and as such there are only so many ways to screw this chicken. Call them something else if you want but the fact is that, in ANY FPS, you are going to eventually have grenades, and those grenades only have so many designs and uses. |

But yeah, more grenades would be a good thing. More variety means more ways to kill folks. :) |

1. smoke not sure, we should have this one 2.incendiary-shields... that's why not and im not sure why vehicles burn when armor near death.. most be with thing the nano storage. 3.EMP-flux... if you want radar jamming then no.. that advanced and its not protected just sounds stupid for a nade to do. 4.flash/stun- meh. the suit should protect you from that. so im going with no. |

The drawbacks of a video based vision system, is that a flash bang will still blind you and it.
And an EMP grenade would be a radar jammer. But would only have a very small range and a very short duration. |

We could make a frag and HE grenade, the HE having a smaller blast radius and more damage, and the frag vice versa |

Yeah, Smoke needs to be in already, but EMP would be like a cloud of chaff, it would just screw with the radars of those standing inside the cloud when it went off.
And Flash and Stun are only good for that "oh crap" situation when you need to get a leg up before you die. Not guaranteed but, it might help sometimes. |

I think your ideas just lost all credibility.
Not to mention you're in armored, environment-sealed suits, some 21,000 years in the future. I don't think concussion grenades would have any effect, and a flash grenade would easily be countered by camera filtering. Additionally EM weaponry is so common that most military electronics are going to be heavily shielded.
You don't NEED to borrow mechanics from these games, especially since they're all just similar, arcade-ish shooters that require no teamwork or deeper thought.
If you want other grenades, think of ones that are practical and fitting for the setting. Some sort of cover-producing grenade would be good (smoke, sure why not, simple enough). How about (like was mentioned) a plasma-based incendiary grenade for prolonged damage against stationary targets, or how about an amarrian grenade that emits frequent high-intensity gamma-ray bursts for a short period of time, damaging shields and armor with each pulse, creating an area denial weapon. |

An EMP like you describe (being similar to "a cloud of chaff"), should also screw with the homing abilities of Swarm Launcher missiles that pass through it, sending them all awry and willy-nilly. As someone who pilots tanks and dropships, i like the sound of this ;) |
