Flame Thrower... but futuristic.
Electrically charged plasma beam launcher.
BIG heavy weapon, carried like the heavy gatling gun, low slung and carried in both hands, and fires a big thick beam of plasma and electricity, that basically sets anything it touches on fire.
Uses, a laser to guide the plasma, Plasma to give the flames, and Electricity to contain it into a tight thick beam.
Would have a max range of about 300 meters at a level trajectory, but the beam falls towards the ground the further out beyond 300 meters it gets, so you could also aim it up into the air, and let the beam fall on a ballistic arc on top of your target (much like launching a grenade).
The beams pulse would take one full second to finish firing, IOW, it would take one full second form trigger pull to impact for the beam to run out of juice and stop being a beam. ROF would be 60 RPM at this speed. |

Call it the Plasma burner, and give it a 15m range, and starting out as a 2m cone, going out to a 10m cone. That sounds better to me.

How about 30 meters though. 15 meters is barely enough for the shotgun to hit you. |

How about introducing the amarrian Arc cannon from the Templar One novel? Launches a large burst of magnetically-contained plasma, less focused and slower moving than gallente plasma weapons, short range but bursts in an area upon impact for massive thermal damage to target and surroundings. |
