Title says it all. I, and many other people, have been posting ideas for brand new items, weapons, features, etc in the "Feedback/Requests" section, but CCP only seems to acknowledge feedback that has to do with optimizing/balancing existing items.
Does CCP even WANT to hear our ideas, or are they pretty much already know what all they want to add and pretty much just ignore such posts? |

I've always assumed (or hoped) that CCP doesn't respond because if they say one idea is good, then they're forced to say all ideas are good or else they have to publish some criteria as to which kinds of feedback will be approved and what isn't approved, which leads to the limitation of the creativity of the players and essentially, a much more lacklustre approach to suggestions, requests and feedback.
If they don't reply to any, though, who knows? I'm assuming, due to the timely locking or moving of inappropriate threads, that new threads and posts are monitored closely.
Besides, we can gather from what we know about what's coming in Uprising and the Q&A session through reddit that they have been listening to us.
Right now, though? Just before the update? They're probably less interested in new content and are focused on consolidating what they have planned. Not to mention preparing for Fanfest. |

I'd say they're open to ideas given requests given requests do make it in the feedback/requests updates thread. |

They have a special forum section dedicated to it
If you have an idea for a weapon they will not stop everything they are doing now and put it in front of the line, there is a process, tweaks are easier. Your idea for a new weapon must be worth about the $25.000 because that's how much it costs to add it to the game. |

Who say's it's a good idea just because you post something doesn't actually mean it is a good idea and secondly just because CCP doesn't make a comment on it does not mean they don't read it |

Wrong. Use Search first. Use Google as well. Put some effort out and we might be more supportive. Eh, it's New Eden so probably not. CCP has Forum cowboys (or whatever they are called) and they do read everything.
And follow the link the Django posted. Every week it is updated and there is one in Technical Support/Bugs Forum as well. They missed while on Holiday and the normal posting day is Thursday Shanghai time I believe.
Finally read the Dev posts, blogs and interviews. There is a lot of coming attractions and there is no sense in telling the Devs your wonderful world changing idea when it is already planned.

In my experience, CCP is always interested in listening.
The main problem isn't that they don't listen. The problem lies in CCP having so much stuff written on the walls under the "MAN THIS WOULD BE AMAZING TO ADD" column... They have to pick and choose carefully what they spend time on. They will /usually/ stick with stuff that fits closely with their plans of how they want the game to be, but occasionally an idea comes out that CCP just up and says "Holy mother of zombie jesus. We are putting this on the list of things to do next"
Example : Vehicle Recall. This was suggested on the forums multiple times, and we're apparently getting it in Uprising.

I guess what I was asking in the OP is this: Is CCP pretty much gonna do what it's gonna do and, aside from helping with the bugs and balancing, we are mostly along for the ride?
And were the laser rifle etc stuff they had already planned that we just "suggested" first, or did they literally read it on the forums first before adding it to their lists?
I'm just trying to figure out whether people are wasting their breath on those suggestions, or if CCP actually appreciates their effort. Though I must admit I'm not quite sure how we could be possitive either way. |

A lot of us felt that the existing items need to be fixed before adding more content. Adding more content before fixing things is not always a good idea. |

Some ideas in that area are terrible. Also they take all feedback that they needs and use it. They can't do it right away, and threads like this just waste space. They are doing a good job so far, beta is beta, and CCP needs time to work on this game because it has the potential to take gaming a huge step forward. So please, less of these posts and keep up with the suggestions. It's the thought that counts. |
