First this is not another IMPS QQ so you can take that weak troll somewhere else.
Okay from what i have been able to gather the rumor that The Uprising update would roll out gradually from May 6th to full functionality including PC beginning May 14th is just in fact a rumor. I now understand that all of Uprising will be available on May 6th including PC and the ability to start claiming districts. Well let me forecast the future a bit for you as to why that may become a source of anger.
Typically SOE rolls out PSN Store updates on a Tuesday in NA and Wednesday in Europe. This update is slated to be out on Monday, which suggests it isn't being updated through the store per se but rather as a large mandatory patch update that SOE would require before further usage of the client. The question is if Sony is in fact in charge of the release of the patch the question becomes are they going to follow the similar schedule as PSN Updates then that means North America gets the patch first and Europe and Asia later(as much as 24 hours)If the time is fixed and not universal then Asia has the lead. If is fixed and universal then thats fine and the best way to do it since it would be no different than planning it around CCP DT but there is no guarantee that this is the way SOE will release it.
Anyway I know HTFU right? I honestly don't care who gets the first crack at district selection, plans don't change we pick a target bash them take their stuff. However there will be a fresh load of QQ over this and I would encourage CCP to think a step ahead and have a plan in place. One so far i have heard of is delaying the attack timer for 48-72 hours meaning the first fights wont take place until much after the district is selected and possibly clone have had time to generate additional reserves beyond the initial 150. Now i know the metagame counter to this is HTFU get directors that can give you global coverage so someone is in place the moment Uprising/PC drops fine, not saying that isn't a legitimate point. However if CCP doesn't control the time frame its a bit different as at least with CCP you know when DT is and when its likely going back up and can plan accordingly for it, Sony is not so consistent and we know this first hand with maintenance schedules.
Anyways I would like to see CCP have a response for this and hopefully they have considered this scenario and have already thought it through. While the idea of delaying the first fights for 48-72 hours may be fine by me, im sure there are others who will be peeved that some will get a bite at the apple before others not because of timing but because of availability, the update has to be available to everyone simultaneously (not the same time or zone, if its 3am for some while primetime for others, well HTFU its conquest).
My .02 ISK the sure fire way to control that is for CCP to rollout the update over M and Tu. One of two things now occurs. PC remains offline till Wednesday the 8th with weekly reset DT being the go time. This first day can either be a view of the territory with no ability to select districts until Thursday or go ahead and start planting flags on Wednesday.
This means with the minimum 24hour rule. If flags are planted on Wednesday fights would take place Thursday/Fri and districts would flip by the same day or +1day after depending on clone counts of the districts. If you can view on Wed, Grab land/declare attacks on Thurs. Fights take place Fri/Sat and districts flip same day or +1day.
Point is this puts CCP firmly in the drivers seat and ensure everyone around the globe has a equal chance at the apple even if it is not in their ideal timezone with the feature being implemented around DT schedule it takes away any issue that can occur on SOE's end and saves CCP a massive headache.
TL;DR. CCP should delay PC function (NOT THE UPDATE) until Wednesday the 8th DT maintenance to ensure adequate time has passed to avoid patch availability issues on Sony's end to the playerbase and creates a universal time that is firmly in CCP's control and nobody else |

I seriously doubt your corporation is going to have any difficulty amassing the land-grab unless (and I'm just throwing this out there) they did something to your Prototype Caldari Assault Dropsuits and your Prototype Assault Rifles.
On a more serious note: Playstation Plus is awesome for Automatic Updating. Just saying. |

Read the post again. Not about concerns over land grab. Our plans are not affected. Still doesn't change this will be a headache for CCP is the avaialability of PC is tied into the availaibility of the patch which isn't in CCP direct control its in Sony's.
Putting control of that timeframe in Sony's hand instead of their own is simply asking for a headache how people can't forsee that or fail to think the necessary moves ahead to realize that really makes my head scratch i thought EVE was full of the best metagamers and thinkers around or is my mistake in forgetting this is Dust? |

OP poses a legitimate concern, ignored by trolls above. USians will get a 24 hour or longer head start over EU in the gold rush to claim districts if CCP uses PSN update schedule to determine when district claims commence.
There should be an easy solution: instead of allowing district claim whenever the patch is installed, postpone district claim launch until, say after Thursday downtime. By that time the update has rolled out globally, and no region will get an advantage - other than having to possibly wake up at 6am to claim districts. |

Hardly trolling, that's just the nature of Eve Online. Corporations/alliances go to great lengths on timing reinforcement timers perfectly as to put their opposition at a disadvantage.
Russians didn't give two ****s about putting our sov structures in reinforce on Christmas and there was a lot of us who were called in to resolve it because literally no-one else was available at the time.
Far as I'm concerned, this is just one more way of saying:

By trolls I referred to those who poo-pood the concern. Your whole post just supports what the OP and myself wrote. |

That's a good point. Very well put. But if I recall from previous announcements from either Sony or CCP, both of those companies are able to make exceptions when it comes to scheduling and might be more willing to allow the update to be universal rather than in steps like you mentioned. This is part of the deal that Sony has with CCP. |

Why would Sony's PSN update have anything to do with patching a game that's already on your system. PSN updates cover the addition of new titles to the storefront and the changing of promotions. It has absolutely nothing to do with individual game updates. The update should release in all market's simultaneously as a result and you will either update when you first launch the game, or if you have ps+ it should perform the update automatically. |

As I recall then for all the previous new builds the patch was available at the same time worldwide.
We might also get extended downtime on the 6th where the patch would be deployed at the start so everyone has 2-3 hours of downtime to get the patch downloaded. |
