Obviously development on Dust will never end (delorian says so)...
But what would you recognise as a complete starter feature. First release. No longer Beta.
Personally i wont see Dust as ready to release until:
We have 1 or each racial drop suit. 1 or each racial HAV, LAV, and dropship. A full range of racial weapon classes ( Amarr heavy weapon, galente (or is it caldari?) light weapons, etc) 4 different game types (minimum) Complete set of (epic, i mean hair raising, feet moving) sounds. More maps... not sure what i expect here but more variation for sure. Bug Extermination! there are some long standing bugs (reload, market, chat, squad...) that need to be long gone.
What do you think? Anything else you want/need/expect done? |

Good list, and I just wanna add my wholehearted support for the bug fixing. Getting ridiculous how long it's taken CCP to fix some of them...
And also, minimal lag and framerate stutters! If I wanna show this game to a friend of mine, I have to ALWAYS tell him this is a Beta, it's a work in progress etc etc. I don't expect stellar graphics for me to consider the game released, but to play a round without having framerate drops and lag should be the minimum. Lag is... meh... It's not gonna disappear (physically impossible) and to be fair the ones who notice lag are usually those who can be considered shooter connoiseurs. It's the framerate drops that makes people who don't know much/anything about Dust reconsider... |

The game will never be complete. They will add more and more features over time, ask EVE players how different the game is from launch. |

It should be released when 90% of the features promised have been delivered. 24v24, full eve-dust integration, spectator mode, all of the modes tested and ones withheld, etc |

He asks when the game could be called 1.0, I say that even at 1.0 the game won't be complete. |

When do we get the dynamic and fluctuating "real" economy?
I joined last June and that was one of the "pillars" of the game that was being touted at the time along with the ideas of thousands of unique planets to fight on and a persistent meta-gameplay involving diplomacy and politics. None of these has even been tested yet.
In fact, none of the revolutionary features that were promised so long ago seem even close to being realized.
We play a standard, but clunky, shooter on 4 maps...
CCP has a lot at stake on May 6th. They really need to nail it. Time IS running out.

its been posted before that what we have currently is only 30% of the game. the 2 additions with uprising will bring some much needed entertainment in the game. |

And my biggest fear is that after the additions, we will have only 35% of the game. That seems to be the incremental rate of improvements over the last year imho. |

Here's how I see it. Dust will be "complete" or "out of beta" when:
-dust and EvE share the same market/economy -dust mercs are required for Sovereignty in EvE -we see unique maps for each planet (hundreds, if not thousands) -dust mercs can shoot EvE players -some sort of PvE exists (drone modes? Think ratting)
And while not immediately necessary these are important to me: -vehicle/dropsuit attributes in fitting window reflect mods & applicable skills -we hopefully see EvE ships fighting/operating in orbit (think end of current intro video)
I'm a retired EvE pilot whos been anticipating this game for literally years. I haven't been waiting this whole time for a shooter that only looks and feels like EvE. I have to be a part of the EvE universe again for me to feel complete.. getting a bunch of fancy vehicles/dropsuits/gear will happen, but isn't required for the beta to be deemed over.. when EvE went live there was what 4-5 types of ship available?? Fancy battle modes and shiny toys aren't what makes dust complete.

Fixed spawns Completely merged with EVE, a market place and cross-game corps won't be good enough for final release PvE More maps More variants of weapons/vechiles Cosmetic Custombility, minimum of things like scopes |

This seems like a good "complete" point for me also. Though I'm not sure its going to happen.
The economy scales are to large for just ISK to be shared straight out. I don't need as much $$ as someone buying a Tengu would so any straight out economy integration would either break Dust, make Dust $s completely unrealistic (Lol yea I know) or break lore.
The unique maps is gonna be a huge challenge, thats big.
But I would really like to see Dust smoothed out, polished. The game needs alot more refinement to stand on its own. |
