In the hetic forums over the Merc pack issue all we could hear was 'muh refund' and 'full reset' along with arguing over uprising and is it commercial reset or not
Facts were none existant and all Baal Roo could cry is 'white knight' at every opportunity without explaining a damn thing
Hear is the link provided by Garrett http://www.dust411.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/MercPackTerms.jpg
Which explains excatly what ppl are on about, also helps and explains a damn lot to me at least since we now know what the uproar is exactly about
It looks like it does what it says on the tin, Merc pack creadited in full to your in game DUST account after each character reset and for the commercial release
So essentially my understanding of this is that if a full character rest takes place for the commercial release you will get back the merc pack
If a full character reset doesnt take place but commercial release takes place instead then you will get a merc pack
But CCP does have the right to change whats in the package anyways
I may even have bought a pack or 2 while it said this but i honestly dont know
CCP problem is now do they just wipe everyones chara for commercial release or just pony up free merc packs if they do not wipe charas on commercial release or swap whats in the package for a bunch of weapons and dropsuits and vehicles
Either way ther is the link and make your mind up |

I'm just going to say, I got that link (although I had the info elsewhere - just not linkable) through DUST 411 and a person on the forums named "Deluxe Edition".
So while I appreciate the credit, I'm not a direct source for the information I was providing. |

The last reset was Jan 10th, if I remember correctly.
Merc packs were refunded then. No plan for future reset later. This refund on Jan 10th could be for reset and for commercial release.
1)It never says on commercial release it says for, so the refund could be in advance. Only the reset refund is on a specific date in relation to the event that required it, namely the same date. 2)It doesn't say separate reset for commercial release, so it could be combined with a reset refund. This refund would be for the reset and the future release. 3)If the same refund couldn't serve as both a refund for release and for reset, two merc packs would have to be given if a reset was done at commercial release, I doubt anyone would try to make this claim. Therefore one refund can be for more then one reason.
I therefore conclude, The refund at the last reset is for the reset AND the future commercial release.
It is not well worded, but a lawyer could argue CCP is covered by the refund we already had. The intent when written was the way CCP is doing it now, as far as I can tell.
I also understood it to be a refund at every reset including reset at launch when I bought the merc pack. I read it several times before coming to this conclusion last June when I bought it. I understand CCP decided to not reset after open beta in the meantime, so the open beta wipe refund was for both the wipe and the future commercial release.
Therefore the rewording of merc pack was not a material change in meaning, but a clarification to prevent people reading it wrong.
Also, I saw an argument made that CCP can't argue it isn't commercial release since they sold things commercially. I would point out that this would lead to commercial release on date merc pack was released, making the initial purchase possible only after the time it would be refunded for commercial release. Argument defeats itself. |

Simple answer to those seeking something for nothing ...
Define commercial release ! ... look it up ... it means release to the public ... it doesn't have to be announced or advertised or publicised in any way.
Commercial release happened when we went into open beta, DUST became available to anyone who wanted it, and we got our Merc Packs refunded.
Quit trying to scam and get things you don't deserve at the expense of others. |
