This is a developing story and updates will be made as they become available. I'm not going to bother with a link to my site because LOLPAGEVIEWS and it's easier to just read the limited info here.
As difficult as it is to determine or divine the machinations and the politics of factions such as the Imperfects or the Goonswarm Federation, which can appear to the outsider as rather mercurial bands of mercenaries, deliberately creating walls of disinformation around themselves, present indications from sources claiming to be within the organisations are that the oft-alluded to but never confirmed relationship between these organisations may have been broken off.
Among similar tips, DUST 411 today received an email from an unknown source claiming that GÇ£Imps have no sugar **** to suckle nowGÇ¥ because they have allegedly been fired by Goonswarm. On contacting ranking members of these organisations, replies have been received ranging from refusal to comment on details unless those details require reply (having already been leaked) or denial of authority to comment on the matter, while acknowledging the matterGÇÖs existence, to total denial of a current or historical relationship between the factions.
Requests for press statement remain open and this post will be updated if and when those statements are made. |

Hi Sylvana! Sorry I didn't get to this earlier, I was unable to post and now I'm going to give you this horrible tl;dr.
I'll be posting a full statement of intent to talk about my position when it comes to providing references for content I publish but for now I'd like to clarify that "Rumour Mill:" as a heading was intended to communicate that this isn't a typical news article. IIt was poor choice of heading and I'm going to work on something which better indicates that I'm aiming to provide a brief hint at political happenings.
Rather, I had hoped it was transparently lacking in specific details and was posted as the beginning of a conversation. Obviously that didn't work very well. It was supposed to be a teaser and not in any way indicative of the usual quality of a DUST 411 article. The conversations which I personally used to substantiate the claims cannot be shared for a number of reasons, including the protection of sources (one of the first things a security conscious corp should do is find a way to provide subtly different data to its members to identify leaks when that data is quoted verbatim by people who shouldn't have it) and the fact that the corporations in question hadn't been given enough time to reply at the time of my publishing the brief summary of the situation.
I can confirm that as part of the appeal of this thread's lock, CCP were provided with evidence substantiating the claims made here, though whether this impacted their decision to unlock it I cannot say.
I'm not going to go into your implications that I made presented the topic as "I have evidence just trust me" or deal with what seems like a suggestion that people without affiliation with particular corporation cannot comment on the goings on within those corporations... except to say that in some cases "I have evidence just trust me" is going to be the way stories are published are my future credibility will be judged on the veracity of those stories. I'm committed to assuring myself that a story is based in reality before I publish it. Where I can do so, I'll convince the audience of this. Where I cannot, people can do as they please with the information provided.
You are free to reject it, though I personally find the tone of your objection somewhat unwarranted. |

I did this because holding content hostage in return for page views is sleazy.
For someone who claims to be a journo, you didn't really do much research to support that suggestion... even when the information was spoonfed to you.

The level of "journalism" displayed by the OP is similar to that of the work published by the fine folks over at EVE News 24. Lack of a credible source, nor providing any supporting details is an amateurish move by a would be journalist. If you don't have solid, credible sources to cite, you're most likely just making it up and running your mouth because you want the attention you never got as a child.
In the future, if you want to comment on Goonswarm interests or even actions within New Eden, especially related to DUST 514, just contact our corp CEO or reach out to the diplos for the GSF, which if you note we're not even a part of at the moment.

I made the nature of the post very clear with the subject "Rumour Mill" and the subsequent explanation of the politically speculative columnesque rather than articlesque nature of the post.
I did contact Cerebral Wolf. He made it clear that only a very select group of people knew about this. He, understandably, asked how much I had been told so he could respond without revealing more than was already known. He said "I have a very short statement made but depending on what's been said depends on if i release it". He observed that the intel was reasonably good. I was referring to him in the article when I explained that "replies have been received ranging from refusal to comment on details unless those details require reply..."
I prefer not to report directly on conversations with CWJ because I have a pro-Immobile-Infantry bias which is gradually being eroded away.
EDIT: I'm interested in whether you talked to your CEO before commenting on this. |
