it's so greedy to expect to receive items when you buy them. clearly the CCP white knights have the right idea here, let's persecute anyone who bought stuff and is worried they won't receive the entirety of their purchase. obviously that's a great precedent to set, one in which CCP can simply decide post-purchase that you DON'T actually get the items in the pack they sold.
"oh cool, a pack with 10 tanks." *buys pack* "hmm, only 5 tanks... oh well, I wouldn't want to be GREEDY would I?" |

So you dont want a SP reset so all those skills you have put your SP in to that get removed you wont mind grinding away to get your proto suit back ect.....?
Aurum i dont care about fair usage and all that... But removing skills and replacing them with new skills would be good to get ISK and SP back from them |

Because whether or not CCP actually honors the agreements they make when they sell you in-game items with real world money is a pretty big deal. If we can expect them to simply change purchases ex post facto at will, who's going to actually buy anything? And if no one is buying anything, how could CCP keep the game up and running? |

I don't mind getting the aurum refund or not getting it at all. I'm ok either way for myself. Just don't take my SP. I worked too hard for it. |

Complaining has reached catastrophic levels.
A reset is the only solution.

Or, y'know. everything is just fine and they fully intend to refund Merc Packs at commercial release. CCP hasn't made a statement in either direction. |

Let's say this: PLAYER 1 purchase a MERC PACK. PLAYER 2 purchases a MERC PACK. (I am only using caps to denote variables, not yelling or emphasizing).
PLAYER 1 used BOOSTER1 from MERC PACK. PLAYER 1 also uses the Aurum from the MERC PACK for another BOOSTER2.
PLAYER 2 intends on saving those and keeps the BOOSTER1 from MERC PACK. He also does not use any Aurum.
When commerical release comes out, let's say they refund that.
PLAYER 1 now has SP gained from BOOSTER1 and BOOSTER2. However, the refund now gives him another BOOSTER3. He also has his Aurum back so he can purchase BOOSTER4, if he so chooses.
PLAYER 2 however, has not used it and retains BOOSTER1 and Aurum from MERC PACK. He can now use his Aurum to purchase BOOSTER2, if he so chooses.
End result: PLAYER1 nets 4 BOOSTERS. PLAYER2 nets 2 BOOSTERS.
This is unfair and unbalanced. With the complaining that people do on the forums, this will raise a controversy much like the one we have now.

Player 2 in your scenario has made a poor choice. We know that the merc pack includes a refund of all items at Commercial Release, it said so right in the description and it was sold to us by CCP as such. Why wouldn't you use the Booster before commercial release to get the best value?
Heck, there's still probably 6 months before release, plenty of time to use the beta gear. |
