It's a module (those boxes on the left and right of your merc, when in the fitting screen) they increase your weapons default damage by 10%. There are 3 types one for heavy weapons, one for light and one for sidearms. |

Damage mods make your weapons do more damage; complex damage mods are the strongest of these. |

Go to the Market (go through the tutorial)
After the tutorial...
Go to the tab that says 'Dropsuit modules' There will be a category about weapon damage (modifiers), click it. You will then be able to click on the skill and skill up if you have the points |

If you're ever unsure about this for ANY item, look it up in the marketplace, press triangle (more info), then press R2 until you find the "prerequisites" page. This tells you which skills the item needs trained, and also shows which of those skills you already have, and which you don't have or don't have to the required level. |

Please don't let this start a holy war. But shouldn't we be telling new players to skill into a playable fit, rather than 'militia with damage mods'? |

EDIT: By which I mean educate players, not point them at someones lolfail fit and say 'train that'. "But it had the most votes on battleclinic!" <-- Last words of OH so many EVE starters.
Damage mods are always first. Even militia fits. Especially for a heavy, its definetly a debate we've had since the begging. Tank or Gank I vote gank kill em before they kill you. |

Good point, didn't think about heavies. I still think core skills are more important. You can more successfully run even militia fits. If you can only fit damage mods and you're shield tanking or armour tanking (without skills) you've got no chance at all... Unless you're a heavy.
I dunno about you but just starting off I'd prefer versatility to being stuck with heavy suits.

Forget about that for now. What you need is ISK and SP.
1-Repeat after me: I will die a lot before I can be competitive. 2-I will die a lot. 3-I will die a lot.
Ok! Now get a MILITIA logi suit and place either militia nanohives in both slots or compact nanohives that are cheap and repair heavies and also give ammo..
Toss out some nanohives close to where theres going to be gunplay to help your team. Get on an installation and destroy other installations for SP and ISK.
Train a weapon and a suit that fits the playstyle that you like.
Hope this helps?? |

My cheap beast fit:
Amarr militia medium frame 2 Complex Dmg Mods Scrambler Rifle Militia locust grenade Compact Nanohive Low Slots N/A
And I can take out a Proto-jerk in a 1v1 gun battle.
Complex damage mods do matter and help you take out your enemy faster then he can take you out tanking. But you have to be nimble. |
