First, look at this: http://youtu.be/eS4rAYrRHWc?t=2m1s My first reaction: "Man, that rifle dropped that person quickly" Second reaction: "For a semi auto rifle, its shooting pretty quickly"
I looked back at the video and had a feeling that with that fire rate and the damage per shot (I slowed down the video to see how much each shot takes down) this weapon is going to be overpowered. But then I remembered that it has heat build up. Look back at the video and look at the heat build up. Notice how quickly it rises and how slowly it goes down?
From this I have concluded that: In a 1v1 scenario this weapon is going to be a beast, out DPS'ing AR's. In a 1v2 scenario you can drop both as quickly, but your weapon will overheat so after the two you are vulnerable for a few seconds. In a 1v3+ this weapon will have less DPS than an AR, because you will have to regulate your fire speed to make sure you're not overheating.
So the scrambler rifle will be a great 1v1 weapon, but anything more and you have to be careful about how fast you are tapping the R1 button. And if you are in a scenario when you need sustained DPS more than burst DPS, AR's will probably beat you.
What do you guys think about it? |

2 different scrambler rifles were used, look at the change in magazine size. One is fully automatic (72 rounds), while the other is semi-automatic with charge capabilities (45 rounds), this was also confirmed on IRC by Wolfman. Perhaps one of the automatic (or some other) variant will have less heat buildup, and be better for extended firing. |

The one used at the place I linked is definitely the semi auto variant. |

im kinda hoping that was a poorly fit opponent or a fully leveled scrambler rifle.
one thing to notice tho is that he landed almost every round, **** a duvolle can out damage that thing. |

I went to this part of the video frame by frame and it seems like most of the shots missed. By counting only the ones that actually did, it only took 3 shots to take down that player. Now, he had a little bit of his shields down, so lets say it took 4 shots. That's still impressive considering the fire rate displayed by the semi auto variant.

Read the above, going through frame by frame most of the shots missed. |

I counted how many frames it took to fire between a first shot and a second shot. Using that, I calculated that the semi auto scrambler rifle fires around 3.75 rounds per second. An AR fires 12.5 rounds per second. However in that case it looks like the SR out DPS's the AR, which makes me wonder how much punch exactly there is for each shot. All I know is, its a lot. |

Loving the idea of a semi-automatic/charged shot weapon for DUST.

He was levelled up completely. Probably Prototype Rifles, along with skills up completely. Which I think allows for this. |

Well if it isn't even close to the same speed of taking down a person that was shown in the video this rifle will be gimped because of the overheating mechanic. |

That proto suit did not have Any shield extenders on, which made him a lot weaker then he should have been.
Also, this gun might promote the use of type 1 suits more as there will now be more ways to counter shields. |

What I noticed, watching very carefully, in HD.
The red is in a prototype assault suit- 282 shields, 130 armor. Oddly enough, the armor was white. The first shot was a beam, instead of a pulse. The first shot did 198 damage (brought the red down to 84 shields) The efficiency rating was 120% against shields, and 80% against armor (changed when the red ran out of shields)

Other random observation sfrom earlier in the video- The plasma cannon has a ballistic arc Fully charged, the SR does 12% damage against the HAV The charge shot only brings the ammo down by 1, but the heat goes up about 60-70% |

You guys have no idea if rifle was prototype or not and what fitting it was or anything. Speculating is pointless. |
