Previous suggestions for portable turrets have been made, but I feel this take on it might be the easiest to balance. As equipment, it could be designed so that only an extremely specialized (Read: Logistics) suit would be able to put it to use with high power grid and CPU costs, similar to or even higher to Uplinks.
Designed specifically for logistics suit, the MicroTurret mount is the final word in portable defensive weaponry. Able to be planted virtually anywhere, miltaries all over New Eden have begun to turn to it as a cheap and modular approach to fortifying a position. It is available in, Railgun, Autocannon, Laser and Blaster form.
Pros:
- Offers significant firepower, similar to a small turret. Ideal for covering a hallway or blocking the use of a field.
- Able to be planted on any level surface. No hills.
- Gives logistics more versatility, without forcing them to direct combat.
- Faster and smaller than a vehicle, with much faster deploy and a lower profile.
Cons:
Offers little to no cover for the user. Vulnerable to incoming fire.
Limited gun arc makes it vulnerable to flanking.
Setup time could make deploying under fire chancy.
Able to be locked on by AV grenades and swarm launchers.
Unable to be removed once deployed.

i actually REALLY like this idea, ive had similar ideas before, but havent had the opportunity to come up with an aplicable solution to how it would fit on a suit. my only issue is that i believe it should be retrieveable, the battlefield is a constantly changing place and i would believe it should be able to be picked up. or if unable to be picked up, let the trooper carry 2-3 depending on the particular model, with the baility to have them all deployed. i also think it shouldnt be restricted to any particular dropsuit. this is new eden, were to be givin basic laws, (ie. gravity) and allowed to be creative within those laws |
